A friend and I asked our kindergarten teacher what the word "immoral" meant. She asked us why we wanted to know and my friend told her my Mom wouldn't let me get a Barbie doll because they were immoral. Could tell teacher was trying not to laugh but said we'd have to ask our Moms.

Then when the Ginny dolls came out I got 1 for Christmas 'cause I guess they weren't immoral :-D

Editing to say I should have googled before posting. They came out before I was born but I guess we didn't know about them.

And even sewed outfits by hand for them. The outfits looked probably terrible but I was proud.

and I have one that I got at a garage sale, but it isn't old.

My Mom might have sent in cereal box tops to get the doll I had when I was under 10

and well-made.

I let my granddaughter play with the newer one, and she took it apart. I found all of the pieces, put her back together and put it away

I didn't get a Barbie doll, but I got Midge. My sister had a Barbie, but I think my Mom thought I was too young to have one. lol
