unless one lives in a place where actual newspapers are printed and sold.

Open a newspaper sheet, run one edge under a facet quickly and place on floor. It does a MUCH better job as a dustpan.

I've seen videos for trash cans that have a vacuum in them so you just sweep that line of dirt toward the can and it disappears. They cost like two hundred dollars, so I'm not getting one any time soon, but they do make them.
