What is a good thank you?
I don't know them well.
I'm thinking bottle of wine and a loaf of homemade bread.
Suggestions?

(16,537 posts)There's always an unknown chance that they cannot enjoy what you give due to allergy/dietary intolerance/religious prohibition/etc, but that would also be true for flowers or any other typical thank-you gift. One would hope they would recognize a well-intentioned gesture of gratitude nonetheless.
Think. Again.

...(a simple thank you in a letter to the editor or something) to somehow spread the word that acting for the good of those around you doesn't always go unnoticed and is appreciated.

(9,914 posts)Plants are a bad idea because if they have pets that they share their home with it, that plant could be fatal to the pet. My in-laws use to to pass easter lilies on to me and I would give them away to others that didn't have pets in the home. This went on for several years, so I had the added stress on what to do with this plant that I didn't ask for or want.

Foods are a bad idea because of food allergies/sensitivities/intolerances.
I hope this helps.
