The Universal Theory of Creep.
Things start getting earlier and earlier to get out in front of the competition. Cars almost a year before the actual year. Xmas and other Holiday stuff out months early. Fashion for seasons on the racks 6 months before the season. etc.

There was one person who noted that his store had a certain Jewish holiday food item that had its sell by date was a month before the holiday.

Here in Munich the Lebkuchen (gingerbread cookies) hit the stores early Sept. Halloween isn't as big so the Xmas chocolate gauntlets to get to the cash registers have been in place for over a month.
