"Sometimes I get up sad when people treat me bad
I don't have time to think and so I get real mad
I pull my hair and find somewhere that I can be alone
But when I do I think of you and then I hurry home"

(3,729 posts)Let me take you to the empty place in my fire engine
Let me take you to the empty place in my fire engine
It can drive you out of your mind
Climb the ladder of your own design in my fire engine
Don't you tell it to go slow or stop
You've got to work it right up to the top
A piercing bolt of neon red
Explodes on fire inside your head
Second Band
I met a crazy man
The other afternoon
and you should have heard the things that he said
He said he knew some things that I couldn't know too soon.
And he spoke of other visions in his head
Crazy man told me you were telling lies
Said there were times where you tried to make me cry
Listen to that crazy man
Third band
Crossin' the highway late last night
He shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right
He didn't see the station wagon car
The skunk got squashed and there you are
This one maybe the easiest.

(29,548 posts)I guess, technically, Gram Parsons was definitely not an "obscure" musician who played with The Byrds
But I'm such a huge fan of his, I figured Blue Eyes meets the criteria for this thread, since The International Submarine Band was an "obscure" band.......(I don't consider The Flying Burrito Brothers obscure)
Gram was from Waycross, Georgia...so was music writer Stanley Booth [The True Adventures of The Rolling Stones"]

You're standing your own ground
Your dignity will never go
And your mind is pretty sound
You stare at the sun
You screw up your face and
Then, you're done
You can wash away the dirt
But you can't wash away the failure
You better take your meds
And get out of bed
And pay me some attention

(5,380 posts)...on the corner of Santa Monica Blvd and El Centro, in an area of Hollywood CA that tourists avoided.
I worked at an airbrush tee shirt studio on that corner, saw him there all the time.
On occasion, he would blurt out "my name is LAIR-eeee!"
Sometimes me or one of the other airbrush artists would buy Larry a taco or burrito from the Mexican joint across from the airbrush studio.
Apparently in later years his music career was resurrected and he recorded new stuff.
