(Just my opinion) If Mitch McConnell is unconscious & maybe dying in the hospital ...

... why is Elaine Chao on an extended trip to China?

Explanation: I'm reading Jeff Tiedrich's daily column "Everyone is entitled to my own opinion" and he's talking about the mystery of Mitch McConnell, and why there's no word of his condition in almost 3 weeks.

Tiedrich posted this tweet from a medical expert as backup:
(screenshot with my emphasis)

I already knew about the strange silence on McConnell's condition, but the departure of Chao THREE DAYS AFTER his hospitalization is very puzzling.

It almost sounds like the GOP overlords told her to leave the country so she can't be consulted about declaring him "dead." Are they planning that she'll return to the states on a convenient date, like maybe around August 3rd?

I'm wondering ... has anyone in Kentucky heard anything different?

Here's the link to Tiedrich: https://www.jefftiedrich.com/p/what-the-fuck-is-going-on-with-glitch

many months.

In a fortress of GOP politicians and medicine men, is the truth relevant?

Kentucky is blood red and the governor ( Democrat Beshear) has to name a republican to replace him or call elections.

It's a sure thing his successor will be GOP, whether temporary or by elections. So, why the delay ?

They know that they cannot win a fair election -- so they will cheat. The governor would be forced to appoint a rethiglican senator to replace mcTurtle

That is why they do not want the election. because once that person becomes an incumbent and does something positive for KY, the democrat will be hard to unseat.

Cause mcTurtle never make life better for Kentuckians other than himself and his own immediate family (maybe a few donors, but that had nothing to do with state of residence -- )

... in Kentucky to replace him. So it doesn't matter what the Governor wants, and it doesn't matter whether he follows that law. Gov. Beshear doesn't get to pick the replacement Senator, period.

The key date is August 3rd - if McConnell is declared dead before that date, there will be a special election. If he's declared dead after that, then the Governor chooses the replacement. (He could choose Thomas Massie or any other Repuke.)

In any case ... whether it's scenario 1 or 2, the replacement Senator will be required to stand for re-election in November because McConnell's term expires at the end of the year.

But does it prevent a Democrat from switching parties and being appointed? I can see Republicans doing that if a GOP governor had to replace a Democratic senator.
