Shortly after their deaths were confirmed, People reported the couple was killed by their son Nick. Law enforcement has yet to confirm People’s report.

Nick previously opened up about his battle with substance abuse issues, which began in his teens. The second son of the When Harry Met Sally director and his second wife was born September 14, 1993.

Around his 15th birthday, Nick entered rehab for the first time. By 2016, he had done more than a dozen stays in rehabilitation facilities.

“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” Nick recalled in 2016, according to People. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
