Hundreds of thousands of immigrants with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) received an update to their work authorizations on Wednesday, courtesy of the Trump Administration, following a Supreme Court decision allowing the termination of their legal status.
Despite the high court's ruling in favor of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) decision to end TPS for Haitians and Syrians last week, lower courts have yet to update their cases, leaving work authorizations in placeuntil today's announcement of the new expiration date of July 10.
The work authorization expiration deadline affects nationals from Haiti, Syria, Burma, Yemen, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Somalia, per DHS' updates.
Even if the new deadline is extended while awaiting lower-court actions, the department describes it only as temporary relief. The Trump administration has sought to end TPS for all the countries listed, stating that the conditions in each country have improved enough for individuals to return home.

Burma
is not called that anymore. It has been "Myanmar" since 1989.
(and yes, UCIS
is still using "Burma" although the Obama Administration used both)
