Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has decided to drop a rape case against Harvey Weinstein after two consecutive juries failed to reach a verdict on the charge.
Assistant District Attorney Nicole Blumberg told Judge Curtis Farber in Manhattan criminal court on Thursday that they wouldn't proceed after consulting with the alleged rape victim, Jessica Mann, who "wants to move on with her life."
Weinstein, who has been in jail since 2020, is awaiting sentencing for a separate New York sexual assault conviction, something that had been held up by this other charge. He also faces prison time for a California conviction that's being appealed.

Then there's the Californian case. The appeal may very well succeed (it was the weakest of the cases, which is why they were trying to keep him in New York).
And then all you need is one guy on the jury who thinks "MeToo went too far," not hard to find in the Trump 2 era.
There's a good chance that he's walking free within the year.
It's sickening. Really shows how the system works for you if you have unlimited money for lawyers (see also Bill Cosby).
