Biden, Bush, Clinton slated to attend Obama presidential center opening

Source: The Hill

Former Presidents Biden, Clinton and Bush are set to attend the opening of the Obama Presidential Center, according to a new report.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Wednesday that the three presidents intend to be at a ceremony to commemorate the center’s opening, a source familiar with the event told the outlet. Former first ladies Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton and Jill Biden will also be in attendance, per the Sun-Times.

The Obama Presidential Center is set to open Thursday, with its grand opening ceremony featuring a lineup of award-winning performers. Valerie Jarett, the Obama Foundation’s chief executive, said that the event “will be unlike any other — filled with music, performances, and hope.”

“The Grand Opening Ceremony will reflect a spirit of inspiration and joy, with a big boost from the performers who are sharing their talent with us. We hope to inspire people everywhere to believe in their power to bring change home.”

...the current White House website disparages Presidents Biden, Obama, and Clinton.

I hate to include the link, but you'd have to scroll through the list of presidents here to see what I mean. Yes, it's vile.

You know he's got to be going nuts knowing that Obama is going to have the spotlight.

Maybe the stress will make him stroke out.

The pictures are amazing - this one seems to sum them up.With Obama it was always about us, all of us.

Wrapped around the main building is this Obama quote.

You are America. Unconstrained by habit and convention. Unencumbered by what is, ready to seize what ought to be. For everywhere in this country, there are first steps to be taken, there is new ground to cover, there are more bridges to be crossed. America is not the project of any one person. The single most powerful word in our democracy is the word ‘We.’ ‘We The People.’ ‘We Shall Overcome.’ ‘Yes We Can.’ That word is owned by no one. It belongs to everyone. Oh, what a glorious task we are given to continually try to improve this great nation of ours.

What a difference from all about us to the current all about Trumpstein

He would make it all about himself and haven't we all had enough of that? I know I have. And I wouldn't want that beautiful place bespoiled by his noxious presence.

Glad to see the former presidents and their wives are attending. The Obama Center looks amazing and will help Chicago bring in visitors. Also glad Trump isn't attending.

"... Above us, sheer walls of granite erupt from the ground at a steep angle, before tapering to form a chiselled 70-metre-high monolith. It looks hewn and cleft, towering over the 19-acre campus like a stocky, truncated obelisk. Rising above the low-rise, low-income neighbourhood, the building has an ominous presence, its mostly windowless heft recalling a menacing sci-fi headquarters, with small chamfered openings suggesting portals from where drones might be launched, or lasers fired. Some have compared it to a flak tower, others to a “Klingon prison”. If it is a beacon of hope, it seems to be one that has been fortified at all costs against the present regime, a defensive bunker to protect its fragile values from siege. ..."
