Trump invokes Defense Production Act for munitions, supply chains

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, June 16 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump has invoked the Defense Production Act to ‌address constraints in weapons supply and development ‌for munitions production and supply chains, according to a memo made public on Tuesday.

The move comes amid growing concern in Washington about the capacity of U.S. weapons manufacturers to meet demand.

Solid rocket motors, igniters and guidance ‌systems are among the most critical and capacity-constrained sub-systems needed for weapons production, both for legacy systems and future modernization programs.

"I hereby find that conditions exist which may pose a direct threat to the national defense or its preparedness programs," Trump said in ‌a June 11 memorandum to the Pentagon chief.

he is so full of shit.

WASHINGTON – Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth on June 14 denied that the U.S. faces a munitions stockpile shortage despite testifying before Congress that it could take "months and years" to replenish some weapons systems.

In an appearance on CBS News' "Face the Nation," Hegseth sparred with the host Margaret Brennan, calling reports about depleted U.S. stockpiles a "manufactured story."

"Our stockpiles are great and they'll only get stronger," he said.

underlying fact that the US defense manufacturing base has shrunk considerably and isn't going to add capacity anytime soon. Now they'll just be competing with each other and commercial interests for material, parts and probably skilled workers, too.

He didn’t want to use it for PPE during Covid, forcing medical workers nationwide to be inadequately protected for months, but he can sure implement it when he’s running low on war toys due to his own foolishness.

To resort to wearing garbage bags and coffee filters for protection. Yeah, I remember that.

We’re not quite at the pandemic part of the second imposition, yet. It’s coming.

Sleep tight.
