It's been a busy weekend for Donald Trump, with the announcement of a framework deal to end the war with Iran, the World Cup in full swing in the US, the New York Knicks securing their first NBA victory in 53 years, and his 80th birthday celebrations yesterday with the controversial UFC cage fight on the White House lawn.
However, there's one embarrassing element that is literally being covered up: the removal of Trump's name from the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts the national cultural center in Washington DC.
As the new chairman of the Kennedy Center, Trump decreed that his name should be added to the venue above that of John F. Kennedy's.
In May, US District Court Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the venue could not be renamed without congressional approval.

The tarp is still up Monday morning at the Kennedy Center, obscuring the name of the building. The Trump administration filed paperwork saying it complied w judges order to remove the current presidents name.

(2,025 posts)do you have to denigrate women to put down Trump?
buzzycrumbhunger
(2,336 posts)He despises women. He thinks hes a strongman but we all know hes trying to compensate for the fact his dick can be measured in centimeters.
I dont consider cunt as an insult to be equivalent to vagina, FWIW.

(2,025 posts)used to describe "difficult women" and whores! Now if you used it to describe Melania, even as old fashioned as I am I would not object.

Jealous rage is.

(20,998 posts)He's always acted like a 6 yr. old brat.
Nothing new there.
If someone can erect giant golden Trump toilets, statues of Trump and Epstein holding hands, etc. on Federal property during the night and avoid arrest, why can't someone tear down that damned tarp?
I'm too old and don't climb ladders anymore or I'd do it myself. Surely some younger Democrat(s) could handle that rather simple task.
They'd certainly be doing our country a favor.

(14,381 posts)If he, and the public, can't see the center without his name the fact it has been removed isn't REAL.
I'm also sure he believes he will ultimately prevail and thinks he can keep the tarp up until his name is put back.
Sooner or later I imagine someone will file a motion to take the damn things down. The whole case is about the importance of public institution names. And integral to that importance is that the public SEEs the name.

(27,767 posts)Of course he's done far more horrific things...
But seeing his name gone (having plastered it elsewhere, or those fascistic giant banners on Federal buildings) especially the insult of having it on the Kennedy Center will be very satisfying!
TAKE IT DOWN !!!

(14,381 posts)I fear the current litigants could be tied up writing motions on the latest unlawful actions of the "Trump Kennedy Center Board" (which doesn't f-ing exist).
The tarp coverup may be viewed as less urgent. If so, I disagree. It may seem only "symbolic" relative to the other illegal actions, but it is a BIG DEAL to the public. And it is OBVIOUSLY a big deal to the felon or he wouldn't be doing this.

If so, maybe that part could be crowd-funded......

(19,129 posts)Thats one thing he can never allow, evidence of his failure so he keeps it covered up.
To keep his macho macho man persona in front of his MAGA buffoons he can never allow them to see him fail.
Most things he can patch up with a lie or two but this is simply failure so he hides it from them.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has been restored to its original name.
President Donald Trumps name was officially cleared from the marble façade of the storied cultural institution on Saturday, the Kennedy Center said, after last-minute attempts by the Trump administration to delay a federal judges ruling that the name cannot be changed.
Theres still some legal wrangling on the horizon, but at this point, its worth pausing to note how exactly the Kennedy Center was restored to its legal name.
On Friday, a crowd assembled to watch crews remove Trumps name from the wall, and while I wasnt personally there, by all accounts, the audience was prepared to celebrate a good show. The Washington Post reported, The atmosphere was festival-like: People brought their dogs, their partners and their children.....
But as of late Sunday, the public still wasnt allowed to see the work that had been done.
Workers are adding a curtain obstructing the view of the removal of Donald Trumpâs name from the Kennedy Center

The removal of Trumps name was poised to be a symbolically significant event. The authoritarian-minded leader, fixated on self-glorification, tried to force his name onto a memorial for a celebrated assassinated president, a court instead upheld the law, and a crowd assembled to watch the crew precisely because of the indelible images that would soon emerge.
But Trumps team, no doubt mindful of the circumstances, preferred a literal cover-up.
Its something to keep in mind the next time White House officials boast about the president and his administration enthusiastically embracing transparency.
As for the future of the Kennedy Center, the presidents appointees at the venue announced over the weekend that they had established the Trump Kennedy Center Fund, which will purportedly help raise money for the center. Trump, the appointees added, will be the chairman.
trump is a baby. There is no way that his name will be put back onto this building without an act of congress.
