Paramount-WBD merger wins approval from DOJ, source says

The U.S. Department of Justice has signed off on Paramount Skydances proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC Friday.
Paramount didnt immediately respond to comment. Politico first reported the government approval.
While the company received the greenlight, it could still face legal challenges from state attorneys general, including Rob Bonta in California, according to prior reports.
Paramount CEO David Ellison told investors during the companys April earnings call that the deal was on track to close by September. The proposed merger has already received WBD shareholder approval.

One CNN contributor, Kara Swisher, has already vowed to quit CNN if the merger goes through.
