The medical-school probe widens Trump administration pressure on universities

Yale University’s medical school discriminated against white and Asian applicants, a Justice Department investigation found Thursday.

The findings are part of broader Trump administration probes into alleged racial bias at medical schools. Last week, the Justice Department reached a similar conclusion regarding UCLA’s medical school.

“Yale intended to discriminate against all racial groups except Black and Hispanic applicants,” the department said. “As a result of these practices, highly qualified White, Asian, and other students were denied admission on the basis of their race.”

The Justice Department said it expects to enter into a voluntary resolution agreement with both schools to “ensure that admissions practices are brought into legal compliance.”
