Dozens of Homes Destroyed in Georgia, Florida Wildfires

Source: WSJ

Wildfires burning across the Florida-Georgia border have destroyed dozens of homes, local officials said Wednesday.

Brantley County, Ga., an 18,000-resident area approximately 70 miles north of Jacksonville, Fla., is the hub of a blaze called the Highway 82 fire. It grew rapidly from 700 acres to nearly 5,000 in six hours on Tuesday, according to County Manager Joey Cason.

Officials on Wednesday urged the public to be prepared to evacuate quickly. Approximately 120 people had evacuated as of 9 a.m. that morning, Cason told local reporters. At least 25 people were at county shelters, officials said. Several pets had been reported killed in the fire, and 47 dwellings had been destroyed.

“These winds may shift rapidly, which will create unpredictable fire behavior,” Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis said.

Multiple fires have broken out in Southeast Georgia as a combination of extreme drought, low humidity and changeable winds created the perfect conditions for the outbreaks. Roughly 98% of the state is experiencing moderate to exceptional drought conditions, according to the Georgia Forestry Commission. A burn ban was ordered for 91 counties, essentially the entire southern half of the state, for at least 30 days.

that a MAGA set a string of wildfires in Oregon..........

I wonder if Trump's "FEMA" will send either Republican State any help? He didn't send Sarah Huck-a-Pig any help when she called him from her state.........They should have plenty of help available, given that last year had no hurricanes in Florida, and that he has told the BLUE states of California and Colorado he will not send ANY Federal disaster help to either state, esp any Wildland firefighting troops or air tankers..........He would get a constant 24/7/Forever "woodie" if he could obliterate each and every Blue State and Blue City.........Or corrupt elections in those states to turn them RED........

Unprecedented Spring drought and subsequent wildfires in the SE US is yet another example.

Last year it was the Canadian Tundra. Weather Weirding is here.

By electing MFer to tear the Federal Govt into tiny pieces, America has decided that we're just going to ignore it.

4. Don't worry. I'm sure Trump's massively-defunded FEMA will be coming along any minute now to give all the victims $700.

Sarah Huck-A-Pig when she asked him for Disaster help in her state as Governor.......

These people are sooooo stupid, they sacrifice themselves to help him, and when they have outgrown their usefulness, he throws them under the bus.....It has been his lifetime M.O. and greatly magnified now that he thinks he is "KING" of America.......

I wonder when the U.S. Republican Senators, U.S. Republican House Members, and the Republican U.S. Supreme Court justices will finally wake up, and realize the there is no Legislative Branch or Judicial Branch of government in a Tyranny/Dictatorship.....
and that they ALL will be screwed and thrown under the bus......Then the Corporations/Republicans will rule!

Dictionary definition of FASCISM is simply....... the merger of Corporations and Government

The northbound "Silver Meteor" was cancelled two days ago. Today's train was two-something hours late getting out of Jacksonville. The fires are at their worst (for Amtrak) near Palatka.

They can do it in their stilettos and aerate the soil at the same time.

11. This has been a El Nino neutral weather year

In an El Nino neutral weather cycle it is typically dry in the SE and cold and snowy in the NE and Midwest.

We have pretty much seen that this year.

Dry weather is going to produce wildfires.

The good news for the SE is that we are transitioning into a regular El Nino year, which means wetter and fewer hurricanes.
