'Disgusting and Despicable' Critics Aghast at Trump Celebrating Robert Mueller's Death

President Donald Trump shocked many on Saturday when he openly celebrated the death of former FBI Director Robert Mueller, declaring he was glad not long after the news broke.
Muellers family confirmed on Saturday that the former special prosecutor died at the age of 81. MS NOW had first reported on Muellers death. His passing followed a years-long battle with Parkinsons.
Robert Mueller just died. Good, Im glad hes dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! the president wrote on Truth Social.
Mueller was the special prosecutor who oversaw an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Mueller ultimately concluded Russia had interfered with the intention of pushing Trump for their own benefit. Trump often attacked Mueller and referred to the investigation as a witch hunt.. Critics were stunned by Trumps post on Saturday, even with his history with Mueller. Most simply shared Trumps message without commenting, but even some conservatives had to comment on how cutthroat the message was.

(21,875 posts)However, keep in mind that a majority of the electorate (i.e. "the popular vote) voted for him, in spite of (for example) him whipping up a mob (he knew to be armed) and directing them to the Capital, to fight like Hell. The only reason he wasnt with them for the assault was he was restrained by his Secret Service detail.
The whole world watched it, many of them live, and yet, a majority of the electorate saw fit to put him back in the Oval Office.

(21,875 posts)in 2024, people were looking back four years when the economy was so much better. January 6 was a patriotic occasion. The rioters were simply tourists, unfairly prosecuted and convicted.
I fear that given another 10 years, our current president will be lauded in much the same way as Ronald Wilson Reagan. January 6 will become an official holiday, remembered with "Lexington and Concord."

CNN Then-President Donald Trump angrily demanded to go to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and berated his protective detail when he didnt get his way, according to two Secret Service sources who say they heard about the incident from multiple agents, including the driver of the presidential SUV where it occurred.
The sources tell CNN that stories circulated about the incident including details that are similar to how former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson described it to the House select committee investigating January 6 in the months immediately afterward the US Capitol attack and before she testified this week.
While the details from those who heard the accounts differ, the Secret Service sources say they were told an angry confrontation did occur. And their accounts align with significant parts of Hutchinsons testimony, which has been attacked as hearsay by Trump and his allies who also have tried to discredit her overall testimony.
Like Hutchinson, one source, a longtime Secret Service employee, told CNN that the agents relaying the story described Trump as demanding and that the former President said something similar to: Im the f**king President of the United States, you cant tell me what to do. The source said he originally heard that kind of language was used shortly after the incident.

(17,608 posts)Or his possibly compromised Secret Service Detail (that covered for him on his fake ear shooting this time around). This was all for show and he had no real intention of putting himself into any kind of danger. He wants to make it appear that he was "held back", but the reality is that he wanted to sit back in safety and watch the fireworks.
He is too much of a chickenshit. If you disagree, that's your right. But I don't buy the media account.

(17,608 posts)I don't trust Trump. He's a coward and he would never put himself in harm's way. He's not some brave leader who wanted to be in the middle of the action. He's the biggest coward I've ever seen in my life and I will not EVER give him the respect of thinking he would put himself in the thick of something that could case harm.
Have a great day!

(17,608 posts)You see - it appears to me that this must be very important to you. Why? Because you have some need to be right????
Because in my thinking, if Trump were actually going to go to the capitol and fight with the mob, that would make him at least have some courage. He could look like a real leader. Since you keep insisting that he did want to go, it's almost like you're trying to defend him, and I will never be a part of something that portrays him in a good light.
Whatever he does is all staged to make HIM look good. He's not ever going to do anything courageous. I hate the asshole and I will not ever give him an inkling of any consideration that he might do something brave. He couldn't even be bothered to pay proper respects to the service personnel killed in the war that he started on a whim.
On January 6th, he knew what he was doing by whipping up the crowd of "the poorly educated" and he may have wanted to sound big, but when it got right down to it, Mr. Bonespurs wouldn't have followed through. He's too chickenshit. Yellow through and through.
If you disagree, that's your right. But constantly sending me videos and links, etc. isn't ever going to change my way of thinking. So, my advice is to let it go.

This system, with the windows and doors open, should crank loud enough to be heard at the Mormon church that's about 150 yards away
Then my partner and I are literally going to dance in the middle of the street.
There, we're going to shake up a bottle of champagne, pop it, and shoot it all over ourselves like we just won the World Series, and then chug it while we continue to dance to songs like Celebration and Walking On Sunshine. In fact, the mix is already queued up on the streaming service. We'll continue to dance until one or more of my dipshit neighbors comes out to try to fight us. Though I know there's also some liberals around, so I'm hoping it turns into a small flash mob/block party.
In fact, I should probably grab some fireworks next time they're for sale, to store for the occasion

(2,829 posts)This is what it took for them to be aghast? I've been aghast since he rode down the escalator in 2015. Although it IS disgusting and despicable, it's just par for the course for him. Who expected anything else at this late stage? Maybe someone who had been in a coma for the past 15 years or someone who had never heard any of his comments before. The rest of us are not surprised by his being as loathsome as he can be; saddened maybe, but certainly not surprised. Don't misunderstand me, it's disheartening that the president of the United States is as vile as he is, but he is exactly who and what he's always been. This is nothing new.

The difference will be that unlike the GREAT Robert Mueller, who actually made our nation safer, TSF has made the entire world less safe, less prosperous for working people and deserves every ounce of hate he is getting. Of COURSE we will be celebrating. Mardi Gras ain't got NUTHIN' on the kind of celebrations we'll see when TSF passes!

(180,248 posts)If Mueller exonerated him, and his findings could not have been better for the president, why is Trump celebrating Muellers death?
Remember in 2019, when Trump falsely told the public that Mueller âexoneratedâ him, and the special counselâs findings âcould not have been betterâ?

https://www.ms.now/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/by-celebrating-muellers-death-trump-steps-on-lazy-lies-hes-apparently-forgotten
Donald Trump, however, didnt quite see it that way. After Mueller died on Friday at age 81, the incumbent American president responded in a uniquely Trumpian fashion.....
The written statement was jarring to the extent that it offered a fresh reminder about Trumps indecency, classlessness and fundamentally twisted character, though it was not too surprising. After all, the presidents ugly public reaction to filmmaker Rob Reiners death three months earlier removed any lingering doubts about Trumps capacity for crude offensiveness.
Whats more, the Republican incumbent has a political incentive to continue his assault on the former special counsels findings: Mueller and his report made it unambiguously clear that Russia interfered in the U.S. presidential election in 2016, specifically because of the Kremlins desire to help elevate Trump to the White House. Mueller similarly found that Trumps political operation was aware of Russias interference, expected to benefit from it and took a series of deliberate steps to obstruct the federal investigation into the scandal......
While these details were largely forgotten, in March 2019, Trump agreed that Mueller served honorably as the special counsel, and soon after, the president told reporters, referring to a document he clearly had not read, The Mueller report was great. It could not have been better.
Six years ago this week, the Republican published a tweet in which he said the Mueller report had led to his total EXONERATION.
He was clearly and unambiguously lying, but the point at the time was simple: Trump hoped to convince Americans that Mueller had delivered a victory for the president and his political operation.
Six years later, the question for the White House is simple. If Mueller exonerated Trump, and Muellers findings could not have been better for the president, why is Trump celebrating Muellers death?
I did not post trump's actual attack on Robert Mueller. That attack has been posted on a number of threads. trump obviously lied about the Mueller report exonerating him.
