Boebert Comes Out Swinging Against Trump Admin. Request for Iran War Money: 'I'm Not Doing That'

Source: mediaite

Michael Luciano Mar 20th, 2026, 12:27 am

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) said she will not support any supplemental funding bill to pay for the Iran war, no matter what the price tag is.

The Department of Defense is seeking $200 billion in supplemental funds to keep paying for the war on Iran, which President Donald Trump launched on Feb 28. The war is costing American taxpayers about $1 billion a day, to say nothing of skyrocketing gas prices.

On Thursday, CNN’s Manu Raju caught up with Boebert on Capitol Hill and asked about the additional funding the Trump administration is expected to seek from Congress.

“I will not vote for a war supplemental,” she said. “No. I am a no. I’ve already told leadership. I am a no on any war supplementals. I am so tired of spending money elsewhere. I am tired of the industrial-war complex getting all of our hard-earned tax dollars. I have folks in Colorado who can’t afford to live. We need America First policies right now, and that? I’m not doing that.”

For once, I approve of Boeberts comments--except for her 'America First policies" comment.

We won!

Also give me 0 billion dollars and send more troops to the Middle East

House has to run every two years, that's why they're always looking for money, they're always campaigning. It's why we have to remove money from politics.

As of today, Boebert has at least 2 Republican primary challengers. Also, in 2024 Boebert won the general election by 11%. Given the average over performance of Democrats in the past 2 years, that seat is extremely winnable for Democrats in November.

Yes, there's a primary that she's highly projected to win.
And she's running in the reddest district there is
The whole point is that TRUMP cant put anyone new up against her now. Too late.
Sure, the winning democrat may win & that would be great. But that wasnt the point of my post; it was that trump cant push one of his favorites

She just won reelection

FALSE She was last elected almost a full year and a half ago

her opposition is set

FALSE The primary is on June 30. That will determine her opposition (You said nothing that remotely implied you were referring to her primary opponents)

Qualifying is over.

I had no idea what you were even talking about when you talked about "qualifying". I've never heard people declaring for a primary called "qualifying"

She'll win

Obviously, you don't know that and you even admitted it in your next post

she's running in the reddest district there is

FALSE. The 3rd & 5th Districts in Colorado are essentially about as "red" as Boebert's 4th District. The margin of victory in the 5th district in 2024 was larger than Boebert's MOV. Nationally, close to 3/4 of all districts currently held by Republicans are more "red" than Boebert's District.

The whole point is that TRUMP cant put anyone new up against her now

Name me ONe specific Congressional race where Trump has explicitly chosen the Republican candidate himself? And how do you know he won't end up endorsing one of her primary opponents?

But that wasnt the point of my post; it was that trump cant push one of his favorites

Then why didn't you say that (or anything remotely like that) until now? Nothing you said earlier gave even a remote indication that was your point.

I'm betting she's feeling some heat from the natives in her rural, conservative district. A portent of things to come?

Totally unrelated but that old joke, "Death by Wampum!", just popped into my head for some reason.

They will just agree to pay for it on the backs of those that can't afford it as they always do.

Will they ask billionaires to give up any of their tax breaks? No.

Will they ask the Administration to scale back on their reckless immigration actions? No.

They will squeeze everyone below the millionaire class even harder as they always do.

That's all they ever do, and Boebert will be there for it regardless of what she says today....

Is indeed a bridge too far.

Trump DID NOT go before Congress laying out the reasoned for this war. Now he is DEMANDING $200 Billion more when the DoD has been given close to a $1 Trillion Budget? Cut the man off/ Say NO Congress.

It is absolutely ridiculous for conservatives who have been yelling endlessly about budget deficits, who endorsed the ludicrous inclusion of DOGE into the federal government to save money, to then turn around and ADD $200 billion for a war that was completely unnecessary, and to a department (DoD) that already received A TRILLION DOLLARS A YEAR. Like, what the fuck do they do with the annual TRILLION dollars that three weeks of war means they need another $200 billion on top of that???

Like, how? HOW?

20. War is costing a billion a day
Fri Mar 20, 2026, 01:59 PM

"not including increased gas prices".........

The price for gas, for drivers in U.S. has already increased a buck a gallon.......and that translates into:

350 MILLION DOLLARS MORE,.......PER DAY,......... U.S. Drivers ARE PAYING AT THE PUMP........

And the price increase to Truckers & Trains for Diesel, and cost to airlines for Jet Fuel is even more outrageous...

PLUS, the increased Diesel prices, cause any merchandise carried by Trucks/Trains increases the price of anything we buy, on top of the inflation we are already experiencing.....Airlines are already beginning to charge more to passengers for the increased price of the airlines Jet Fuel

Oh, and the cost of the war they are saying is a Billion a Day, is a joke.........The fuel being used by Air planes and Naval ships per day, costs more than that amount..........and just think about the costs of bombs, missiles and munitions being used every every day.......

Boebert’s party helped nominate and elect a wealthy lunatic to the presidency, and she is surprised trump isn’t sympathetic towards the needs of the average American.

He got what he wanted from them when he said on the campaign trail, “I don’t care about you, i just want your votes”.

Is the sobering thought that President Trump is just “A Worthless Pile of Shit”, starting to take hold in their minds?
