Trump takes down racist Truth Social post showing Obamas as apes after blowback

The Truth Social account of President Donald Trump on Friday morning removed a racist image showing former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama portrayed as apes after outrage over the post.
The depiction of the Obamas, posted late Thursday from Trumps official Truth Social account, was included in a video clip pushing a conspiracy theory about voting machines during the 2020 election.
The White House initially defended Trumps post when asked for comment on Friday morning, but the sole Black Republican senator quickly called for Trump to remove the post.
This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from the Lion King, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said in an emailed statement earlier Friday.

Why bother? Mission accomplished.
Leave it out there to define exactly what you and your party are and that includes the "blinded" like Tim Scott and Clarence Thomas.

(2,231 posts)If you look at the MSM articles talking about Trumps incredibly racist post, few were brave enough to link to it. They realized how disgusting it is and felt they had to spare their viewers. So again, the MSM is complicit in protecting Trump from his excesses.
If any of you have a link to the post or its video, I hope youll start a new diary with a link so we can help make sure it doesnt disappear completely. It deserves to live in infamy.

Trump amplifying another racist video got me thinking about the commitment he made to Black voters in his second inaugural â and how quickly he returned to the kind of gutter racism that helped fuel his political rise in the first place. www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...

The list, alas, continues to grow longer. The Associated Press reported:
President Donald Trump used his social media account to share a video about election conspiracy theories that includes a racist depiction of former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, as primates in a jungle. [ ]
Nearly all of the 62-second clip, which was among dozens of Truth Social posts from Trump overnight, appears to be from a conservative video alleging deliberate tampering with voting machines in battleground states as the 2020 presidential votes were tallied. At the 60-second mark is a quick scene of two primates, with the Obamas smiling faces imposed on them.
The fact that the Republican president didnt make the video himself is hardly exculpatory: Trump saw the video and thought itd be a good to idea to amplify it, just as he did in his first term when he promoted a video of a supporter wearing Trump campaign gear while shouting white power!...
Republican Sen. Tim Scott, who is Black, wrote online that he was praying the video was fake because its the most racist thing Ive seen out of this White House. The South Carolinian, whos currently chairing the National Republican Senatorial Committee, added: The President should remove it.....
Complicating matters, a few hours after Leavitt tried to defend the racist video, the White House changed its story, saying in a statement, A White House staffer erroneously made the post. It has been taken down.
Evidently, the press secretarys fake outrage line proved unsustainable.
In his second inaugural address, Trump said: To the Black and Hispanic communities, I want to thank you for the tremendous outpouring of love and trust that you have shown me with your vote. We set records, and I will not forget it. Ive heard your voices in the campaign, and I look forward to working with you in the years to come.
Like too many of Trumps promises, he wasted little time in trashing this commitment and returning to the kind of gutter racism that helped fuel his political rise in the first place.

In a career spanning 40 years, I have never encountered this type of rhetoric. The Right never used to talk like this. So who on our side has legitimized this type of vile degradation? Its a question worth thinking about.

Youre Indian, you made nothing, you are nothing, and devoid of creation. Your ilk has been a race of slaves for hundreds of years, and even after being given a chance, you prove what worth you are, devoid of actual thought. Your existence causes me disgust

Well, the post has been taken down. But I guarantee that there will be no apology.
Just another day and another bit of proof that Trump absolutely should never have been president of the United States.

Donald Trump has excused the sharing of a racist video featuring Barack and Michelle Obama to his Truth Social account as it actually details voter fraud.

The president has erroneously claimed for years that the 2020 elections were rigged. His second term in the White House has led to some pressure on mail-in ballots and the repetition of claims that the Democratic Party did not win the 2020 election. Trump's post to Truth Social last week was criticized by politicians, though the president has tried to explain why the video had been shared, The Daily Beast reported.
He told reporters on Thursday, "That was a video on, as you know, on voter fraud. It was a fairly long video, and they had a little piece and it had to do with the Lion King. Its doing very well, uh, its been shown all over the place, long before that was posted.
"But that was a very strong - and Im sure you saw it - a very strong piece on voter fraud, and the piece we were talking about was all over the place, many times I believe, for years."
The video was shared to Trump's Truth Social account at around midnight on February 6, with the current president sharing a host of posts, including this video. Said video runs for one minute and two seconds, with the final seconds of the video depicting Barack and Michelle as animals.
Trump had previously targeted Obama with an artificially generated video of the former president being arrested in the Oval Office. The deepfake video appeared in July last year on the president's Truth Social account.
