Grenell says X account hacked after sharing Washington Opera exit from Kennedy Center

Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell on Saturday said his X account was hacked, resulting in the removal of several posts related to the Washington National Opera’s (WNO) exit from the performance venue.

“I have alerted @x that someone hacked my account last night – and deleted my content on our Opera announcement and media corrections,” Grenell wrote in the Saturday post on X. “X will find the hacker and deal with him/her. I will re-post the statements from last night once they are recovered. Stand by,” he added.

In recent weeks, Grenell has fiercely defended the Trump administration’s takeover at the Kennedy Center and boasted about the change in annual performances.

On Friday, WNO told The New York Times in a statement that it had “announced its decision to seek an amicable early termination of its affiliation agreement with the Kennedy Center and resume operations as a fully independent nonprofit entity” after more than 50 years.
