The US Supreme Court didnt rule on challenges to President Donald Trumps tariffs Friday, leaving markets in suspense on the fate of the administrations signature economic policy.
The court hasnt said when it will issue its next opinion but could schedule more releases in the next two weeks. The court issued its first opinion of the term on Friday.
Tariff-exposed stocks quickly fell in the absence of a ruling on tariffs.
Arguments on Nov. 5 suggested the court was skeptical that Trump had authority to impose the tariffs under a 1977 law that gives the president special powers during emergency situations.

I know only a tiny fraction of those suits have "made the news" and only some of that fraction have made it on DU! So there is a big pissed-off business community out there.

Hopefully that same tactic will work against the tariffs. 😁

(20,002 posts)After all, David Miscavige came up with some hokie award for Tom Cruise that "Sea" members had to attend - a real Broadway production it was - so I'm sure he could invent some new award to go with Trump's invented FIFA "peace prize". Trump looooooves those awards, even if he did absolutely nothing - and usually cheated - to "win."
His "club championship" golf awards come to mind, along with his self-made Time magazine "man of the year" award.
He certainly is a legend in his own mind.
