Trump endorses in New York governor race the day after Stefanik drops out

President Donald Trump endorsed Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman in the New York gubernatorial race, a day after Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) ended her bid.

“Bruce is MAGA all the way, and has been with me from the very beginning,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social Saturday. “Bruce Blakeman is a FANTASTIC guy, will win the big November Election and, without hesitation, has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Governor of the ONCE GREAT STATE OF NEW YORK (IT CAN BE GREAT AGAIN!). BRUCE BLAKEMAN WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

Stefanik was long seen as the favorite in the Republican primary to face off against incumbent Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul in 2026, months after Trump nudged fellow governor hopeful Rep. Mike Lawler into running for reelection to his competitive House seat by endorsing him to remain in Congress.

But Blakeman jumping into the race earlier this month complicated things for Stefanik, and Trump had publicly praised both Republicans as “fantastic people.” Hochul still holds a double-digit lead over Blakeman in a potential head-to-head matchup, according to a Siena Poll of New York released earlier this week.

All the "obedient servant" act that she did for the past several years, was for naught.

Didn't buy that TSF wouldn't endorse anyone.

Believed that TSF did the Charlie Brown-Lucy-football bit again with Stefanik.

TSF always intended for Blakeman to be the nominee and told Stefanik he wouldn't be endorsing her.

i figured that she would be toast. Two of 45's kids are around the same age as Stefanik so he knows how to manipulate that group.

Flim Flam Man's endorsement is pretty much a guarantee that you're going to lose, not that Blakeman has much of a chance of being elected NY Gov.

13. When was the last time a Trump endorsement helped anybody win?

It has been a long time. Much closer to the kiss of death than anything helpful.

Obviously Stefanek was forced out by Trump, The GOP has a serious electoral problem. Trump is a boat anchors in the general elections. But he can still be king-maker in the primaries. Every time Trump endorses somebody, it is good for our chances.

But it does raise the question of what Stefanek did to get this treatment from Trump. She sold any soul she might have had to Trump, and even that wasn't enough. Any intelligent Republican will take note of the dangers of getting too close to Trump, especially at this stage of his mental illness.

7. The MAGA Bros are declaring elected offices are jobs for males only

Joni Ernst slithered away quietly. Margery Taylor Greene and Nancy Mace are declaring themselves free women and fighting back.

This is the “ Thank you ladies for your service but now you must support us men, and not compete with us.” Stage of the bro revolution.

Everyone thinks that THEY are the one who Trump won't betray in a heartbeat. And everyone is wrong.

Sadly, Charlie Kirk never lived long enough to see his own moment of betrayal.

The Democrats should use that as a campaign slogan.
Getting Trump's endorsement, and being "MAGA all the way" is not going to win in New York State.
Especially as the Trump brand is getting more and more toxic each day.

Never heard of Bakeman, but now that he's got Trump's endorsement I know he's a piece of sh*t.
