The Trump administration should be sanctioned over extrajudicial statements that have damaged Kilmar Abrego Garcia's right to a fair trial, a motion filed in Tennessee federal court on Friday alleges.
In the 14-page motion for sanctions, the Maryland man's attorneys are asking U.S. District Judge Waverly Crenshaw, Jr., a Barack Obama appointee, to first get to the bottom of the latest dispute.
Specifically, the motion asks for an order forcing the government to disclose information about "multiple highly prejudicial, inflammatory, and false statements" allegedly made by Chief Border Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino during appearances on Fox News and NewsMax.
The request comes as part of Abrego Garcia's criminal case on human smuggling charges out of the Middle District of Tennessee.

We need to form a message along these lines to fight the MAGAts who believe only they tell the truth and are
fair and balanced. Would be easy to point out how they lie constantly.

(165,156 posts)Back in spring of 2024, George Soros' media company BOUGHT "Audacy" (which includes over 200 radio stations and a pile of podcasts). He was able to slide the approval in before 45 got back into office (and the GOP has been having a shit-fit).
Audacy has a presence in most major cities and here in Philly, includes ownership of the biggest NEWS (1060 KYW) and TALK - (1210 WPHT, where it used to be WCAU back in the day and was news/talk under CBS) stations.
That talk station had been running RW LOON shit for DECADES (the local loons + a syndicated package or RWers like Savage Weiner, Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, etc., and are currently running Hannity and Mark Levin).
Once they get their staff in place with the Audacy structure, the first thing they need to do is PULL ALL of that RW shit off the air and replace it with OUR programming. Get a syndicated line-up together (could include people like the Meiselas brothers for a broadcast AND podast show, simulcast, since there was already buzz about them investing in their show) and FINALLY get our "message" out.

Federal law enforcement are under the control of the executive in other words, Trump, so that will never happen.

President Donald Trump's chief of staff Susie Wiles did more than embarrass the White House with her broad-ranging Vanity Fair interview, MS NOW's Nicolle Wallace argued to the reporter who broke the story, Chris Whipple, on Thursday.

"What did she what was the spirit of the conversation when she describes Donald Trump's personality as a, quote, 'alcoholic's personality'?" asked Wallace.
"What's amazing about the whole thing, Nicolle, is that she was it was just a matter of fact," said Whipple. "And she was matter of fact when she described the the fact that there was still a revenge and retribution campaign going full tilt. She was matter of fact when she talked about how [New York Attorney General] Letitia James was part of that retribution tour, which is practically a get-out-of-jail-free card for her attorneys. That was what was so remarkable. And I think I think part of it is that it's not that there's a bubble mentality in the Trump White House, a bunker mentality. It's really kind of a bubble. And I think at a certain point when you're surrounded by like-minded acolytes that you, you forget that what you're saying is sometimes crazy."....
"I mean, did she understand that by acknowledging the retribution and revenge and acknowledging that the Justice Department was being used in that way, that she could be subpoenaed as a witness in a vindictive prosecution?" asked Wallace.
"I have no idea," said Whipple but, he added, "She certainly wasn't reluctant to talk about it."
