A posthumous memoir by one of Jeffrey Epsteins best-known accusers, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, has sold 1m copies worldwide in just the two months after its release.
Publisher Alfred A Knopf announced on Tuesday that more than half the sales for Nobodys Girl came out of North America; in the US, the book is now in its 10th printing after an initial run of 70,000 copies. Giuffres book, co-written by author-journalist Amy Wallace, was published in early October.
The memoir helped revive criticism of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly a British prince, whom Giuffre alleged had sex with her when she was 17. And it heightened demands that the Justice Department release its files on Epstein, who killed himself in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Giuffre died by suicide in April at age 41.
This is a bittersweet moment for us, Giuffres family, including siblings Sky Roberts and Danny Wilson, said in a statement. We are enormously proud of our sister, and the impact she continues to have on the world. Were also filled with so much sorrow that she couldnt be here to witness the impact of her words. In her absence, our family remains committed to ensuring her voice is everlasting.

(40,005 posts)I'm sure that's true for most "bestsellers" these days. I read a LOT and I haven't purchased a hard copy book for myself in over 10 years. Occasionally I'll buy one as a gift for my sister or another close family member. Even when I borrow from the public library, it's amost aways a digital e-book.

(17,302 posts)I use the public library and volunteer there and have also been in Barnes and Noble quite often when the place is doing well. My library has six copies of her book and the wait list is quite long. Many of us older people still like to hold a physical book in our hands. I don't buy books because of where I volunteer, but I do buy them for gifts and I do check them out from the library. IThe same goes for my two sisters. I'm an avid reader also.

Very brave woman.
Thank you, Virginia Roberts Giuffre. And here's to all the survivors!

(1,224 posts)Its a difficult read. Borrowed it from the library ebook web. Some days I had to stop reading, because sections were awful. But I intend to finish it today.
