MIT professor shot, killed at Brookline, Massachusetts, home; Investigation ongoing

BROOKLINE, Mass. A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was fatally shot at his home in Brookline on Monday night, the school confirmed Tuesday.
Nuno F.G. Loureiro, 47, was shot at his home on Gibbs Street at about 9 p.m. He was taken to an area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds and died Tuesday morning, according to the Norfolk County district attorneys office.
"Professor Nuno Loureiro, who died early this morning, was a current MIT faculty member in the departments of Nuclear Science & Engineering and Physics, as well as the Director of MITs Plasma Science and Fusion Center," the school said in a statement.
Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots Monday night

(7,131 posts)1) The choice of specific classroom seems arbitrary at Brown. Seems like it was the first one he came across.
2) Whether the classroom used for the final review was the same classroom usually used for the class is unknown.
