New anti-abortion campaign takes aim at EPA drinking water rules

An influential anti-abortion group is rallying its supporters around the country to flood EPA with requests to add mifepristone a drug used in more than two-thirds of all abortions to a list of drinking water contaminants tracked by public utilities. The strategy by Students for Life of America to target EPAs rule-making process, which grew out of a recent meeting with EPA staff, is the latest move in a yearslong crusade by abortion opponents to use environmental laws to restrict abortion.
By aligning their new campaign with the Make America Healthy Again agenda and its concerns about the impact of chemicals on human health, the group hopes their efforts will convince the Trump administration to restrict access to the drug or, at minimum, shape public opinion about its safety.
People need to understand that they are likely drinking other peoples abortions, said Student for Lifes head of policy Kristi Hamrick. Do you really need a test to determine that its a bad idea to flush placenta, tissue, blood and human remains into our waterways?
Though water contamination from all pharmaceuticals is a growing concern, environmental scientists say there is no evidence that mifepristone pollution in particular is harming either people, animals or the environment.

You have millions in this country who are experiencing a psychotic mass delusion.

Wish all of the wild-eyed zealots would fall off their soap boxes. Give it a rest, already.

Once you get a little narcissism, power, some mental concepts, and mix in some financial benefits, anyone can convince themselves of their own brilliance.

(7,438 posts)I'd be in no pain, because I'd be drinking so much hydrocodone flushed down the toilet by one way or another! Any fringe idea to justify their hatred is what they'll use... and I longingly look towards the day when these xtianists are put down every bit as much as put down islamists. Why people just can't leave people alone and mind their own business, I'll never understand. Every single one of them dare not look in a mirror for the hypocrisy staring back!
