As the yearslong legal battle between former presidential son Hunter Biden and onetime Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne limps toward a likely determinative if not entirely final hearing early next year, a recent filing aims to clarify matters for the judge overseeing the case.
On Friday, in a 4-page supplement to his default motion, Biden accused Byrne of ongoing defamation.
In the filing, Biden writes "to inform the Court of recent public statements" allegedly made by Byrne "repeating the same Defamatory Statements on a widely distributed public forum that are the basis of this lawsuit."
"The continued public dissemination of these Defamatory Statements after the Court stated in its order denying Defendant's summary judgment that Defendant did not have a basis for making the Defamatory Statements shows that Defendant will continue to defame Plaintiff unless he is punished by the imposition of significant punitive damages as requested in Plaintiff's Default Judgment Motion," the supplement reads.

(279 posts)I remember very well the slobbering worship at major media outlets especially business publications, made for that man. The only thing he did was cut jobs and thats how he became profitable while decimating communities in his awake. He wasnt innovative he didnt support anything that grew the company, just cut, cut, cut. A monkey could do that, without the ego and god-complex.

(237 posts)Byrne had to resign from Overstock when his relationship with Maria Butina, became known. She was convicted of acting as an unregistered foreign agent in 2018. All this in addition to accounting irregularities which took place during his time as the former Overstock CEO. So even though he is well educated, his judgement and motivations ought to be questioned. If he continues to smear Hunter Biden, he should remember that old saying, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." And he had made sexist remarks in his campaign against a female reporter who had criticized him. He made a crude reference to her giving "b---- jobs" so he is known to pursue those on his enemies list with a vengeance.
Hunter Biden ought to receive treble damages in this case.

Alex Jones is a despicable excuse for a human being and deserves all approbation.
