What we're covering
Active water rescues: Rivers across western Washington are bursting their banks and inundating towns and homes with fast-moving floodwater, forcing water rescues, some by helicopter.
Evacuations underway: As many as 100,000 people in Washington face potential evacuations as the flood danger rises. Many are in Skagit County, where the entire 100-year floodplain has been ordered to evacuate.
Rivers rise even amid light rain: Scattered light rain continues across parts of western Washington, but itll have little impact on river flooding. Some rivers wont crest until Friday, and even those that have crested will remain dangerously high over the next 24 to 48 hours.

Washington is under a state of emergency after back-to-back atmospheric rivers brought torrential rain that has caused rivers to overflow and sparked evacuations, mudslides, and water rescues.
Multiple rivers are at or forecast to reach major flood stage, and in some cases, including the Skagit and Snohomish rivers, the flooding will likely be historic.
The National Weather Service said catastrophic -- and potentially life-threatening -- river flooding and widespread urban flooding are expected through Thursday afternoon.

We feel very lucky considering the Hoquiam river is right across the 2 lane country road from us. I'm sending my best vibes to those who have lost so much. That's the weather news.
