Trump plans nationwide tour to defend his policies as voters revolt over cost of living

President Donald Trump is planning a nationwide tour to defend his economic agenda to voters, amid rising discontent over the cost of living, reported Axios on Thursday.
This comes after a number of election scares for Republicans, including blistering losses around the country in November, and a special election this week that saw Democrats coming within single digits of flipping of Tennessee seat Trump won by 22 points.
"Trump's approval rating has sunk as he has pursued peace deals around the globe and 'narco-terrorists' in the Caribbean, while Americans have become more pessimistic about affording a better life," said the report. "With Republicans in danger of losing control of the House next November, Trump needs to be a lift not a drag in tough districts if the GOP is to defy powerful historic trends and keep its majority."
The president will kick off this campaign with a stop in northeast Pennsylvania next Tuesday. "White House aides see Trump as the Republican Party's best salesman and its best chance to reverse falling poll numbers for both the president and his party," said the report. "Trump is expected to use Tuesday's event to highlight what he's done to help the economy during his second term in office. But aides privately acknowledge that there's more to be done to address cost-of-living concerns and say that on his trip, Trump also will preview upcoming plans."

There were seven of us children in a tiny "house" about 700 square feet. My mother was German and used to make us go outside to play (probably to save her sanity) saying, "a little cold never killed anyone" and "fresh air is good for you".

All he cares about is how it will affect HIM. He wont say, Vote for this or that candidate. It will be all about HIM.

(220 posts)Every venue will be controlled and packed with paid shills for Trump and audience members will be vetted for their loyalty. His team will probably have to offer more money to motivate them to cheer for his nonsense. And special attention must be paid to place those phony "Blacks For Trump" folks behind the podium. He has recently revealed himself to be an open racist by the way in which he insulted people from Somalia. How can any POC's support him when they know how he really feels about them? One can understand the $hallow motivation of the few POC's still holding office in his administration. They must be willing to swallow their pride and convince themselves that a paycheck is worth their sell-out to serve this shameful regime.

This sounds like a much better opportunity for massive "No Kings" protests than to rally the already-faithful.
Unless--of course--participation becomes mandatory; corporate sponsors are required to set up booths and give away free swag; cities and states are threatened with economic punishment if they do not turn out "crowds like nobody ever thought was possible."

(132 posts)In January 2026, millions of American's health insurance rates will rise to unaffordable amounts. Wait till the shock of how much the rates will be comingled with Taco Trump's crazy affordable tour he's talking about going on that will showcase how bad his dementia is, and you have a huge GOP caused mess.
I'm a retired federal employee, who has the same type of health care insurance that Congress has. The ACA insurance care was modeled by the care federal employees and Congress receive, like not being able to deny care due to any preexisting condition. That the GOP would take away that care, while they continue to get excellent health care for a low cost, is totally disgusting. As a federal employee I never had to worry about my family's health care or costs. I want the same thing for all Americans, unlike the GOP, who could care less. This information along with all the damage done by the GOP and Trump, is a topic every Democrat candidate must talk about while campaigning. Will health insurance being made unaffordable by the GOP, local hospitals will shoulder the burden in their emergency rooms, and many small local hospitals will close due to going broke.

(23,110 posts)An like with Harding in 1923 (whom they obviously poisoned, as he had become political dead weight), the GOPee's idea is to use Cheeto's demise as a rallying cry for a victory in the next elections.
