Musk's PAC launches $1 million TV ad buy touting Trump's first 6 weeks in office

Source: ABC News

March 5, 2025, 3:49 PM

Billionaire Elon Musk's political action committee, America PAC, has placed its first-ever nationwide TV ad, a $1 million ad buy that touts President Donald Trump's first few weeks in office following Tuesday's joint address to Congress, a source familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The 60-second ad will run this week in the Washington, D.C., media market and across the country, the source told ABC News.

The ad begins by attacking former President Joe Biden, showing clips of him stumbling on the stairs while boarding Air Force One. A voiceover says, "After four long years of humiliation, of failure at home and embarrassment abroad, our long national nightmare is finally over."

The ad then echoes some of what Trump highlighted in his joint address, saying the president has "delivered the lowest level of illegal immigration in history."

Including what you indicated, the whole "UNCOMMITTED" thing, and the student loan forgiveness issue (which actually also cuts across generations), where a whole populace has little understanding about the impact of the courts (who THREW OUT most of Biden's forgiveness attempts), so they blamed Biden, and then Harris as his replacement.

2024 US elections takeaways: how female voters broke for Harris and Trump

(snip)

2. White women are still voting for the Republican candidate

Although women as a whole have historically voted for Democrats, white women have not. Instead, over the last 72 years, a plurality of white women have voted for the Democratic candidate only twice, in 1964 and 1996. On Tuesday, they once again went for Trump – just as they did in 2016 and 2020. But Harris made inroads with the group; she lost them by only 5 points, according to CNN. (In 2020, they broke for Trump by 11.) More surprisingly, Trump’s lead among white men also shrank, from 23 points in 2020 to 20 in 2024.

3. Trump did better with young women than he did in 2020

The Trump campaign leaned into targeting young men, as the former president publicly palled around with male YouTubers and podcasters, such as Joe Rogan, who make little space for women. This effort paid off: exit polling indicates that there was a canyon-wide 16-point gender gap between young men and women, which is an increase from 2020. While women between the ages of 18 and 29 preferred Harris 58% to 40%, their male peers chose Trump 56% to 42%. However, compared to his last run, Trump did better with both young men (41% of them voted for him four years ago) and young women (33% in 2020).

4. Harris suffered significant losses among both Latino women and men

Latino men, in particular, veered hard to the right. In 2016, Clinton won Latino men by 31 points; by 2020, their support for Democrats had cooled somewhat, as Biden won them by 23 points. On Tuesday, Trump won this group handily, by 10 points, according to exit polling performed for the Washington Post and other outlets. Meanwhile, Harris won Latina women by 24 points, a victory that pales in comparison to Clinton’s 44-point lead in 2016.

The voters, and many Democratic leaning voters, betrayed both Biden and Harris. The so called working class that Bernie touts about had a big group of racists who wanted no Harris. Union folks betrayed Biden despite all he did. Dems Senators and House members betrayed Biden as well. Yes, Biden was getting old. Only a year ago, they could have asked him to set aside. Instead, they encouraged him to stay only to force him out after the debates. Harris did great but, then, the racists in us woke up. Harris getting less women voters is absolute travesty.

Country deserves to suffer for this. Unfortunately, I am in the country, and so fight I must to save our nation.

And I still believe that the average person had no expectation that literal armageddon was actually going to happen. The political discourse is usually filled with "hyperbole" but this time the warnings came to fruition.

It's the "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" phenomena when the townspeople tune out the "warnings" due to so many "false alarms" and then are caught flat-footed when the wolf DOES appear and attacks their sheep.

4. Muskovite learned from last year's illegal offer. This one is now just investment in the US govt as his cash cow
Thu Mar 6, 2025, 05:55 AM
Mar 2025

Remember this?...

...In doing so, the petition appears to be designed to principally push Trump voters to register to vote in the presidential election so that they can be in the running for the $1m prize. Signing the petition is also now a prerequisite to attend Musk’s town hall events.

The legality of the America Pac $1m prize draw is unclear, and a justice department spokesperson did not immediately respond to an inquiry.

But several legal experts said on Saturday the petition appeared to violate federal election laws that prohibits paying or offering to pay for someone to register to vote or actually vote under title 52 of the US code.

According to the justice department’s election crimes manual, for an offer of payment to violate federal election law, it must have been intended to induce or reward the prospective voter for engaging in one or more acts necessary to cast a ballot.

The election crimes manual distinguishes between making it easier for people to vote, such as offering free rides to a polling station, and inducing people to vote, which is unlawful.

UCLA law professor Rick Hasen said in his blog that the America Pac $1m prize draw appears to be an illegal scheme because it offered the payments to registered voters.

“Though maybe some of the other things Musk was doing were of murky legality, this one is clearly illegal,” he wrote.

He's not doing anything any different from what the Heritage network have been doing with dark money with rethugs and scotus for at least a decade. He's just doing it in the open as "ad buy," as if that makes his efforts "honest."
He's now just openly offering his PAC's ad buy as a funnel for other oligarchs' messaging; only foreign $$ will still have to be dark.

30. But, who would air an opposition ad? The DNC? PACs?
Thu Mar 6, 2025, 12:05 PM
Mar 2025

The DNC is not made of money. Elon is rich, and an asshole. After the election, donations to the DNC and Dems in general have retreated to some low, baseline level, while Musk can pay for almost anything with just the interest from a fraction of his fortune. Also, Democratic leaning PACs have either dissolved after the election, or they've gone into hibernation mode pending the run-up to the next election.

Although it's a hard sell, the DNC has to establish a robust base of year-round, monthly donors - almost like a subscription service - to establish the long term cash flow needed to do detailed research, engineer a distributed social media campaign with a unified and coordinated messaging, run adds in heritage media, and cause "good trouble" wherever they can.

What is really needed is a large, national opposition organization composed of the DNC, unions, liberal PACs, never-Trump conservative orgs, and individuals that would act almost like a trade organization.

I am still astounded at the lack of any firm response by Dems to the Trump train wreck. I hope something's going on behind the scenes and that we'll get information about more that we can do - some firm action that Dems on the ground can take - to start resisting.

If we don't bother to counter the propaganda as it emerges, then we have learned nothing and will continue to lose big. If these ads go unanswered, by the time November 2026 rolls around, Trusk will legit have 80% approval, the only shot at retaining Democratic congressional seats will be from mea-culpa-kumbaya Dems, and the elections won't even have to be rigged for a GOP blowout win.

Propaganda works. And this isn't even 2026 yet. Trusk's bunch can afford ad saturation even this far in advance.

If we can't afford media buys, we at least need some daily presence from "leadership" -- a Democratic response team making a daily press statement, weekly full pressers, and it needs to begin ASAP.

You forget what WWI and WWII was about - and those were in the 20th century.

The 1990s with the fall of the USSR caused a HUGE realignment of Europe. The creation of the EU helped to stave off some of the return of the despots but some came anyway in countries like Hungary.

And need we talk about the various "robber barons" here including the MIC and more recently the PIC (Prison Industrial Complex).

What is "new" is "the internet" and the ability to magnify propaganda beyond anything ever done in the past - and do so "globally". Previously there was only print, film, radio, and later television to spread the propaganda.

We may well repeat them later, but until then we'll be taking a role more like prewar Germany. I remember hanging out with a college housemate in 1992 who had an antique globe from pre-WWI. As the USSR collapsed and the Balkans fragmented, we observed his globe becoming increasingly accurate every day. Hard to believe that was over 30 years ago.

I haven't forgotten the 20th century, not at all.
However, this nation no longer fights on the side of freedom and democracy, that time has passed, even in my youth it waned, and now it seems truly gone if it was ever really the case.

this is the first time in American history where a President was elected to office who had never served in any elected or appointed office, nor had worked in any municipal/county/state/federal civil service position, and/or had never served in the military.

So he had never taken an oath to "support and defend the Constitution" and that concept was never part of his life.

All of the previous 44 Presidents had some kind of government experience (including some as vile as Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson).

I play Microsoft games sometimes because I don't have a life and between games they sometimes run ads -- the Noem one is subtitled in Spanish and she talks about how strong whatshisname is and how effective his border policy is at protecting the country blah blah blah. She also says that if you're here illegally, we will find you and deport you.

And we're paying for the ad.
