Denmark sent Trump team private messages on Greenland, Axios reports

Jan 11 (Reuters) - Denmark sent private messages to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's team expressing willingness to discuss boosting security in Greenland or increasing the U.S. military presence there without claiming the island, Axios reported on Saturday, citing two sources.

Trump, who takes office on Jan. 20, has described U.S. control of Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, as an "absolute necessity". He did not dismiss the potential use of military or economic means, including tariffs against Denmark.

Axios said that the Danish government wanted to convince Trump that his security concerns could be addressed without claiming Greenland.

A spokesperson for the Trump transition team did not respond to a request for comment on the Axios report.

The more you legitimize Trump, the more insane he becomes.

Donald is a bully at heart, he wants to beat down weaker opponents but he doesn’t want to fight. Unless of course, someone else does the fighting for him so he can claim that it had nothing to do with him.

.... Northwest Passage. With global warming, the Northwest Passage will open up and become a viable transportation and navel route / region. Canada and Greenland and Russia are positioned to benefit. Russia would be particularly aggressive.

.... He thinks he thought up the Space Force and thinks he named it. He double didn't. The Space Force was a policy objective long before tsf.

The emergence of the North West passage has been a foreign affairs and great powers policy concern for a long time. It's been packaged up for him as an opportunity to play Putin.

The stupidity of Trump is astonishing. These people are our allies- Denmark, Europe, Canada, Mexico. We are a Western Democracy allied with other democracies around the globe. Trump is a Fascist and opposed to real democracy where the people are in charge.

So now I guess everything is upside down. Democracies are our rivals or even enemies and authoritarian countries like Putin's Russia or Xi's China are now our friends? Trump is a colossal idiot. I have hated his guts since that stupid reality show The Apprentice. His "management style" is basically stupid bully. Fake businessman, worst President in US history.
