Exclusive: Meta kills DEI programs

Mark Zuckerberg's Meta is terminating major DEI programs, effective immediately — including for hiring, training and picking suppliers, according to a new employee memo obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: The move is a strong signal to Meta employees that the company's push to make inroads with the incoming Trump administration isn't just posturing, but an ethos shift that will impact its business practices.

Context: Meta said it was changing course because the "legal and policy landscape surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the United States is changing," per a memo by Janelle Gale, vice president of human resources.

Ending the "Diverse Slate Approach" to hiring: While Meta will continue to source candidates from different backgrounds, it will no longer use the diverse-slate hiring approach, which ensures a diverse pool of candidates is considered for every open position. "We believe there are other ways to build an industry-leading workforce and leverage teams made up of world-class people from all types of backgrounds," Gale wrote.

My sister in law and her entire DEI department was recently shut down effective immediately from a large northeast energy supplier…

And I do blame Fox, Murdoch, and social media as a huge part of the mess that we are in. I seriously wonder how bad it's going to get before people realize that the media is the problem.

There is NO--repeat NO--substitute for FB to keep in contact with friends, relatives, and others. I mean, Bluesky is not intended to be anything remotely like this. It is more an alternative to Twitter, but not an alternative to FB.

I won't give up FB. I don't care about Zuckerberg or any of the rest of them.

fascism everything is about politics. You can do what you want but by using those platforms the users are indirectly supporting the policies of the platform. Those policies are quickly enabl8ng discrimination and fascist behavior. I have a phone and email I don't have an issue keeping up with friends and family. Roughly 100 million people in the US do not have Facebook accounts.

Our values of truth, justice, equality, fairness, compassion, empathy, democracy, respect, faithfulness and human decency only apply if politically supported and viable.

I know that we've been told that those values are how we should conduct ourselves, but FUCK, there's money to be made!!!!

Racism, fascism, misogyny, hatred and white supremacy are ONLY BAD, if they cost you politically. They are "good" if 49.8% of voters in the right electoral combination validates them.

Remember what Jesus said; "love thy neighbor as thyself, unless it costs you young white male voters in Pennsylvania"

Heck, if you're not religious, forget Jesus and remember what the Constitution says; "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, unless it costs you young Hispanic voters in North Carolina and a 0.001% corporate profit drop establish this Constitution.

Morals, values and virtue are "fungible", right?
