Rudy Giuliani bungles another court order 1 day after being held in contempt, sanctioned

Source: Law & Crime

Just one day after being held in contempt for repeatedly flouting court orders, Rudy Giuliani missed yet another crucial filing deadline as the two Georgia election workers he defamed continue litigating collection of the $148 million judgment they were awarded.

As a result, U.S. District Court Judge Lewis J. Liman threatened to prohibit Giuliani from submitting evidentiary exhibits in connection with next week’s proceedings over the ownership of the former New York City mayor’s three Yankees World Series rings. Liman in a brief two-page order on Tuesday called out Giuliani and his attorney, Joseph Cammarata, for failing to properly work with the attorneys for plaintiffs Rudy Freeman and Shay Moss in filing joint pretrial orders.

Joint pretrial orders are critical documents that dictate the course of a trial by laying out the legal and factual issues before the court. They are typically prepared by plaintiff’s counsel with input from the defense and include the parties’ positions on the court’s jurisdiction, claim summaries, and exhibit lists — as well as objections to the opposing party’s exhibit list.

The filing was due at 5 p.m. on Tuesday. While attorneys for the plaintiffs as well as Andrew Giuliani, the intervenor in the case, followed the procedures clearly outlined by the court, Giuliani and Cammarata appeared to go their own way.

The Court must punish him to the fullest extent of the law.

Regardless, Giuliani is ruined. His association with Trump has destroyed his reputation, his finances, his profession and his life.

What a fool!

Giuliani is a laughing stock and any lawyer that considers associating with Trump should take a sober view of the results of Giuliani's devotion to Trump.

Giuliani is finished.

He sold his reputation, his career, his money and his life to Trump.

For nothing. Trump didn't even pay Giuliani for his legal services.

What a foolish ass.

Quit coddling the miserable son-of-bitch.

FUCK. This is what's wrong with the justice system.

IT NEEDS TO HAVE TEETH FOR THE RICH AND POWERFUL JUST LIKE IT DOES FOR THE POOR AND DEFENSELESS.

Drippy's behavior in the past suggests it's just another expression of his contempt for the court.

This makes me smile

HAHAHA. Federal judge orders Rudy Giuliani to swear in a statement that records show there was no fraud in the 2020 election. If he doesn’t, he’ll be fined $200 a day.

I check to confirm this story

In addition to finding Giuliani in contempt, Howell ordered that within 10 days - Trump’s Inauguration Day – he must swear in a statement sent to the court that he’s reviewed and acknowledges several records showing that there was no fraud in the 2020 election. If he doesn’t do that, he’ll be fined $200 a day.

Judge Howell may send Rudy to jail if contempt continues

https://www.rawstory.com/rudy-giuliani-contempt/

Rudy Giuliani has been found in contempt of court again, but this time, the judge is using a different tactic.

Thus far, Judge Beryl Howell has not held Giuliani accountable for contempt, but those days are ending. Giuliani appeared before the court on Friday, and the judge mandated that he sign a sworn declaration saying evidence at a 2023 defamation trial refuted his claims about Freeman and Moss. If he doesn't sign the paper, he'll be issued a $200 fee for each day he refuses or ultimately jailed.

It's the first time Giuliani has been threatened with jail time for contempt.

“So what you’re saying is that this defamation is never going to stop?” Howell asked. “He believed it in 2021 when he made the original statements. He believed it all throughout the trial. He believes it today. It’s never going to stop. That’s chilling.”

“Mr. Giuliani does have a history of not completing his financial obligations,” Howell said.

Legal analyst P. Andrew Torrez, who hosts "Law and Chaos," characterized it as Howell "reading him for filth for an hour," before requiring the change.

"Literally any other non-Trump human who displayed this level of open contempt for a court with no signs of remorse would be given a night in lockup to cool their heels with an instruction to come back on your knees with a fulsome apology if you want to be let out," Torrez lamented.
