FDA limits toxic lead in some baby foods

Source: ABC News/AP

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday set maximum levels for lead in baby foods like jarred fruits and vegetables, yogurts and dry cereal, part of an effort to cut young kids' exposure to the toxic metal that causes developmental and neurological problems.

The agency issued final guidance that it estimated could reduce lead exposure from processed baby foods by about 20% to 30%. The limits are voluntary, not mandatory, for food manufacturers, but they allow the FDA to take enforcement action if foods exceed the levels.

It's part of the FDA's ongoing effort to “reduce dietary exposure to contaminants, including lead, in foods to as low as possible over time, while maintaining access to nutritious foods,” the agency said in a statement. Consumer advocates, who have long sought limits on lead in children's foods, welcomed the guidance first proposed two years ago, but said it didn't go far enough.

“FDA's actions today are a step forward and will help protect children,” said Thomas Galligan, a scientist with the Center for Science in the Public Interest. “However, the agency took too long to act and ignored important public input that could have strengthened these standards.”

Why does the FDA allow any of it in baby food?

No wonder the American IQ is dropping by the year.

Hermann Goering, dope addict.

"In Sweden, where he worked for an aviation company (1925-1926), he was shut up in the insane hospital at Langbro, removed thence to Konradsberg, and thence back to Langbro. There his fits were so violent that he was transferred to the section for dangerous madmen. Finally, the Nazi biographers fail to mention that the man to whom they have intrusted the tutelage of 60,000,000 Germans was declared, by the tribunal which gave him his divorce, incapable of caring for his own son."

“The Food and Drug Administration has moved from an entirely taxpayer-funded entity to one increasingly funded by user fees paid by manufacturers that are being regulated. Today, close to 45% of its budget comes from these user fees that companies pay when they apply for approval of a medical device or drug.”

Sounds like they are “suggesting”the lead comes out - guess you can’t tell the people who financially support you that babies lives matter.

What’s also gross is baby formula- corn syrup and GMO ingredients- glyphosate.

Baby formulas also contain aluminum, cadmium, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium.
