Judge Finds Rudy Giuliani in Contempt for Failed Responses in $148 Million Defamation Judgment Case

NEW YORK (AP) — A federal judge in New York City on Monday said that Rudy Giuliani was in contempt of court for failing to properly respond to requests for information as he turned over assets to satisfy a $148 million defamation judgment granted to two Georgia election workers.

Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled after hearing Giuliani testify for a second day at a contempt hearing called after lawyers for the election workers said the former New York City mayor had failed to properly comply with evidence production requests over the last few months.

On Friday, Giuliani testified for about three hours in Liman's Manhattan courtroom, but the judge permitted him to finish testifying remotely on Monday from his condominium in Palm Beach, Florida. At the start of the hearing Monday, Giuliani had an American flag backdrop, which he said he uses for a program he conducts over the internet, but the judge told him to change it to a plain background.

Giuliani conceded during Monday’s testimony that he sometimes did not turn over everything requested because he believed the requests were overly broad or inappropriate or even a “trap” set by lawyers for the plaintiffs.

I just looked it up...

A lifelong Bronx Bombers fan, Giuliani contends that the rings — bejeweled behemoths commemorating the team’s four championships in five years while he was mayor — now belong to his son, Andrew, and shouldn’t be given up.

In sworn testimony made public this week, ahead of a pair of key court dates, Giuliani described the 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000 World Series rings as something of a family heirloom and Yankees good-luck charm.

Here's hoping that they become Bad-Luck charms that wind up getting him thrown in jail.

Fuck this joke of a justice system. I’ll never answer another jury summons. If they send the Marshalls I’ll explain my contempt and ask drumph for a pardon.

... sort of like O.J. Simpson looking for Nicole Brown's murderer.

This is interesting:

"The election workers’ lawyers say Giuliani has displayed a “consistent pattern of willful defiance” of Liman’s October order to give up assets after he was found liable in 2023 for defaming their clients by falsely accusing them of tampering with ballots during the 2020 presidential election.

They said in court papers that Giuliani has turned over a Mercedes-Benz and his New York apartment, but not the paperwork necessary to monetize the assets. And they said he has failed to surrender watches and sports memorabilia, including a Joe DiMaggio jersey, and has not turned over “a single dollar from his nonexempt cash accounts.”

Giuliani said Monday that he was investigating what happened to the DiMaggio jersey and that he currently doesn’t know where it is or who has it.

Aaron Nathan, a lawyer for the election workers, asked Liman to decide the meaning of Giuliani withholding information — such as a list of his doctors over the last four years — that would make it more likely the court would conclude that the Palm Beach property was not his primary residence and therefore not protected from seizure.

Joseph Cammarata, Giuliani’s attorney, said reaching such a conclusion would be like a civil “death penalty” and would cause Giuliani to lose the Florida property even before the trial scheduled start in 10 days. That's when the judge is supposed to hear testimony and view evidence before deciding what should be done with the condominium and World Series rings.

Giuliani has insisted that the Palm Beach property is his personal residence now and should be shielded from the judgment."

I'm guessing the being held in wilful "contempt" for refusing to obey the Court's Discovery Orders is going to result in "evidentiary issue preclusion sanctions" about that Palm Beach property since the Ghoul's continuous contemptuous disobedience of the Court's Discovery Orders has prevented and precluded the Plaintiffs from obtaining the necessary evidence to establish and prove their claims to that Palm Beach property. I don't think that the Judge has any choice now other than to take that Palm Beach property away from the Ghoul and award that property to be availed to the Ghoul's victims to partially satisfy their monetary judgment against the Ghoul. Cammarata is dumber than Alina Habba and probably more incompetent. This trial is going to be over before it starts other than the Clown Show which it will be with the contemptuous, crying, bawling dipshit clown whimpering and whining about his self-perceived persecution. It will be one laughable hoot!

This part says a whole hell of a lot about how hard he has avoided cooperating:

They said in court papers that Giuliani has turned over a Mercedes-Benz and his New York apartment, but not the paperwork necessary to monetize the assets.

Turned over the car and the NY apt but not the paperwork? For crying out loud, this is beyond ridiculous. He's a lawyer (who can no longer practice law, but that's beside the point), so there is no way he can pretend not to know how vitally necessary that paperwork is. PLUS he "has not turned over “a single dollar from his nonexempt cash accounts," and there's the whole matter of the Palm Beach condo? All things considered, it sounds like the watches and sports memorabilia are just the tip of the iceberg.

He is behaving like a petulant child, and he deserves a LOT more from that judge than just another bawling out.

he has already claimed that he is bankrupt?

Judge Liman just needs to bypass that question and LOCK GIULIANI UP.

and doubling every day. He should be jailed the first day that the fine isn't paid in full and should stay until that fine is paid in full. Fine only stops when he turns over every single, solitary, thing he was asked for.

He seems to have slipped into complete denial that any of this trial and verdict actually happened. Like if he ignores it long enough it'll go away and he can retrieve his car and condo that he still hold the titles to. He won't have to give up the bank accounts he refuses to surrender, and he can keep his collector items that he still holds.

It'll all go away like The Land Of Oz and he'll wake up in bed with Bannon, Gen Myers, and Trump gathered around him.
