I listen to those podcasts and vids too sonetimes, mostly from DUers links. And the papers of course.

My television doesn't receive any news channels -- cable, broadcast, or otherwise -- and I block the third column of YouTube videos here on DU's homepage. They are all vanished without a trace. My YouTube homepage rarely has any news and opinion on it either, especially the talking head kind. Whenever news and opinion videos do sneak through I tag them "not interested."

I think video news and opinion bypasses certain critical thinking skills. Video is a great tool for propaganda.
