Elon Musk among billionaires set to donate to Reform UK, says treasurer
Source: Guardian
The treasurer of Reform UK has said that Elon Musk is among a number of billionaires interested in donating to Nigel Farages party, promising political disruption like we have never seen before.
Nick Candy told the Financial Times that the party will raise more funds than any other political party for grassroots campaigning, data and polling.
He also predicted Reform UK would have more members than Kemi Badenochs Conservatives in three months.

Shadow cabinet minister Kevin Hollinrake said he would not seek to block Musk making a donation, but suggested he would like him to back the Tories instead.

(54,049 posts)In the U.K., the Electoral Commission sets out strict rules on spending limits for political parties contesting the general election in Great Britain (made up of England, Wales and Scotland). In England, for example, the limit is whichever the greater is of £1,458,440 ($1,845,098) or £54,010 times the number of seats the party is contesting in each part of Britain. Parties can be fined, and often are, for breaching those limits. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/07/04/how-british-election-races-are-very-different-from-american-ones.html
