Texas Rep. Kay Granger Found At Senior Living Facility After Missing Months Of Crucial Votes

Source: Huff Post

Dec 22, 2024, 03:45 PM EST

After nearly five months without casting a vote, the case of absentee congresswoman Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) appears to have been solved.

In an investigation published on Friday, The Dallas Express revealed that it had found that the outgoing legislator was living at an assisted living home in Fort Worth, Texas.

The paper made its discovery while trying to track down Granger, 81, to learn how she was voting on a contentious stop-gap spending bill which had put factions of the Republican party at odds with one another.

Granger has represented Texas’ 12th Congressional District since 1997 and is set to retire from her role at the end of this term. Looking into the congressional roll call, the outlet found that the former mayor of Fort Worth’s last vote in Washington, D.C., was on July 24.

While not showing up for work? Isn’t that fraud? Or some other kind of crime? Like, it’s illegal to keep a dead person’s Social Security check. Right? Seems similar.

Mayors of large cities are used to compromise and in Texas, the positions are non-partisan. She was recruited by both the Democratic and Republican parties and chose to go with the GOP.

Apparently, he lives near me, but I wouldn't recognize him probably because he looks like so many other people around here.

He's got a fancy place out in the country. Helotes, Texas. (Next to San Antonio) I'm sure he frequents the Lowes near me.

But see, if the GOP had any sense of decency and had continued former Speaker Pelosi's "proxy voting" option in their Rules, then Granger could have voted that way. But their spite job version of "governing" bites them in the ass every time.

which even prompted the lunatic (R) Anna Luna to protest not allowing it for pregnant members and demanding a Rules change the past couple years. And it was left out again as they continue to negotiate the new Rules for the House in the 119th Congress - https://www.aol.com/rep-luna-calls-speaker-johnson-000435996.html

So they knew about Granger and kept it under wraps while pointing and laughing at Biden and other Democrats (in order to hide their own issues by projection).

She "went on leave" without telling the public. Of course, honesty is the best policy. I think she was afraid she would be pressured into resigning.

And THAT is a problem that gets pushed by the GOP when it comes to Democrats instead of having some "decency and compassion".

Watch what happens when the new session starts and you have Emeritus Nancy Pelosi now with a new hip (and what will be weeks of PT and OT), where they will tear her a new one. They gave Turtle many passes but it was drama for Patrick Leahy (before he retired a couple years ago) when they were wheeling him into the Senate after hip surgeries -

with all the potential health issues that can crop up - particularly as one ages (she is 81). The problem is the rank hypocrisy of the GOP along with their lapdog M$M, with their complete lack of any decency attacking Democrats experiencing health issues (they worked over Fetterman when he had a stroke, demanded that Biden resign for what they allege are "health issues", and I won't even get into Dianne Feinstein or RGB fiasco and their continual drumbeat demanding they leave).

And chose to do their usual, every accusation is a confession, routine to somehow protect their razor thin majority in the House.

It’s not like one day Granger woke up with a case of the dementia.

You had people like David Trone (D) (MD-6) rolled in right out of surgery to vote (one of the many House Speaker votes Jan. 6, 2023) -

If they would allow proxy voting like was done under Democrats when we controlled the House, this whole thing wouldn't have been an issue.

On either side, they want to cling on until the bitter end, even at the detriment to their own party and its agenda. I guess some want the “honor” of dying in office, instead of just fading away.
