Texts threatening deportation and 're-education' for gays stoke both fear and defiance

Source: NBC News

Nov. 18, 2024, 6:36 PM EST

Latino teenagers in Georgia getting texts saying they are "set to be deported" by immigration authorities. A lesbian business owner receiving messages telling her she's been assigned to an “LGB re-education camp” in Las Vegas. Immigrant families afraid to report the text messages to authorities.

Members of the Hispanic and LGBTQ communities are being targeted with these kinds of disturbing text messages by people hiding behind anonymous phone numbers.

Soon after Donald Trump’s presidential election victory, the FBI and the Department of Justice started receiving numerous reports of racist text messages being sent to Black Americans, telling them they had been selected to pick cotton "at the nearest plantation." Now, authorities are investigating cases in which other groups of people are reportedly getting text messages saying they have been "selected for deportation or to report to a re-education camp."

Santiago Marquez, of the Latin American Association, a Latino advocacy group in Georgia, said he received phone calls on Monday morning from three concerned parents in his community who had heard about the threatening texts in the news and said their children had received the same messages. Santiago said the students who got the texts are in middle school and high school. “It’s very easy to panic when you get a message like that,” Santiago said.

And, let's just say that we are also locked and loaded. To use a great quote from 'In Living Color'... "Homey don't play that game!"

See, the issue here is that this is just crap from cowards. Yet, because we have been programmed to trust anything coming from electronics, we allow this stuff to worry us. Maybe we should stop listening to things that are way too easily manipulated and start being a bit more resistant to threats by 'someone' from 'somewhere'.

Let us remember 'The War Of The Worlds' broadcast. That should be something that every person in this country is reminded of every single election. Because that is a great scenario of how we are lead into things with no proof of actuality, I am not saying that some people are not being evil shits towards us, but I am saying that there is no way that stuff is happening at the moment and it would be impossible to implement most of the crap we keep hearing about anyway.

Lastly, if they find the ass hats who are doing this, they need to drag them 'behind the barn'. Just sayin'.

Think. Again.

They will learn. Or...

The texts are not the concern. The fact that these animals are not being hunted down and removed from society by any means necessary is the concern. Because, that is the rethug plan. They just are not emboldened enough to do that part in daylight.

Yet.

Think. Again.

"The fact that these animals are not being hunted down and removed from society by any means necessary is the concern."

No truer words have been spoken in deacades.

After 9/11, the Shrub was given carte Blanche and billions of dollars to create his huge electronic surveillance system. And yet, they can't seem to track down these bad actors. Isn't that just what it was supposed to do?

Think. Again.

There is no way in my mind that the person walking all around and planting multiple pipe bombs in an extremely secure neighborhood in Washington DC wasn't tracked and identified immediately.

They can, but they don't.

points out the warning I have been making over and over for some time. The words are meaningless without enforcement and action. Just like our current situation and the words on the pages of law being made to be just words while crooks and scum go on their merry way. I have been trying to get people to come to the realization that saying "They can't do that because the law says....." is futile. They usurp the enforcement system and they have. So what the words say is no longer to be applied universally but only selectively as it fits the desires of the tyrants. It's one reason why we end up with such uneven application in prosecution and trial of different people for like offenses and circumstances.

and we should see it as the warning shots. We can count on the incoming leaders at DOJ to soft-pedal any investigation of acts of violence and intimidation. The ones doing these things know this and count on it. Back in the '50's/'60's during the height of Klan etc. incidents aimed at civil rights activists the effort of Hoover and the FBI was aimed more at the activists than the groups burning churches etc. The perpetrators were emboldened by knowing that Hoover may not have liked them but he hated the activists more and they knew they had an easier time of it.

So the wheel spins and what was has come around again. Anyway I think Chris Wray, while not exactly fitting the definition of being effective, is going to be gone or so sidelined he won't matter.

Think. Again.

...than just soft-pedal this type of thing, they plan on defending it, protecting it, and they hope to enshrine it in American law.

We ARE being taken over by nazis, have no doubt about that.

On 4 April 1968, the most surveilled man in America was assassinated under the very noses of J. Edgar Hoover's FBI:

In 1968 the KKK, a domestic terrorist organization, strutted openly in the deep South.

In 2024 Columbus, Ohio, neo-Nazis recently paraded in the open.

Christopher Wray (a Trump appointee) will be asked to resign before his ten-year limit expires.

Yesterday in GD I posted the parallels between 1968 and 2024 and this blatant, brazen racism could have been included in the analysis.

Officer in the Integrated Cyber Center at Fort Meade, MD.

I have no access to these texts or the underlying technical data. Their apparent quality and the sender's access to recipient names lead me to the inference that this is the operation of a nation-state whose objective is to further divide the US people. The top two suspects on my list are Iran and Russia.
