Donald Trump Taps Lee Zeldin To Lead Environmental Protection Agency

President-elect Donald Trump on Monday announced his choice of former Rep. Lee Zeldin to serve as his administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, a Cabinet-level position overseeing enforcement of pollution-control standards.
Lee, with a very strong legal background, has been a true fighter for America First policies, Trump said in a statement. He will ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions that will be enacted in a way to unleash the power of American businesses, while at the same time maintaining the highest environmental standards, including the cleanest air and water on the planet.
Zeldin, a New York Republican who unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2022, is Trumps second Empire State nominee to serve in his administration. Over the weekend, he announced Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) as his choice for U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
It is an honor to join President Trumps Cabinet as EPA Administrator, Zeldin wrote in a social media post on Monday.

Based on how many days we think each will last in their positions.
Zeldin does not seem that radical on the environment, although he opposes the Paris Accords. He has previously partnered with Chuck Schumer on environmental legislation (2015).
Over/Under: Under 365 Days
Elise Stefanik is a true believer in the cult of Trump. But she is ambitious and I could se her distancing herself from Trump near the end of his term if shes thinking about running for President.
Over/Under: Over 1200 days

Can you give me another example?
Why would you expect a winning score to be over a combined score? That sounds like too high of an expectation.
I'm sorry VMA131Marine, but I'm not getting it.

(11,082 posts)In sports, the over/under is usually set on the final combined score in a game.
In Thursday night's NFL game the over/under is 48.5. If you bet "under", and the combined score at the end of the game is lower than 48.5, you win. If bet "over", and the combined score at the end of the game is higher than 48.5, you win.
Now say, the bookie or casino sets the over/under on Lee Zeldin's firing date as March 7th, 2026.
If you bet the "under", you are betting that he gets fired before then. If he does get fired before then, you win the bet. If you bet the "over", you bet that he'll be fired after that date. If he does, you win the bet.

(4,679 posts)Where the Constitution grants powers to the Federal Government. This has been a bone of contention with conservatives who say the Fed has been usurping state power. This SCOTUS has also tended to rule in their favour but dont be surprised if that changes when Trumps federal government wants to impose its will on blue states. The 6 RW justices are nothing if not hypocrites.

I dont see how you square that. Unleashing the power of business AND maintaining the highest environmental standards for clean air and clean water. Theres no way to have all those things turned all the way up at the same time. Somethings gonna be kicked down into Lower-PriorityLand. And business will demand and damn near kill for first place in that pecking order.
In the Great Lust for Dollars, clean air and clean water will be talked about, alright, - and reliably IGNORED.
