Univision Poll: More than 60% of Latino voters in Pennsylvania support Kamala Harris amid the controversy over calling

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Yonnie3 (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Univision

A Univision and YouGov survey shows that 69% of respondents considered comments defining Puerto Rico as "a floating island of garbage" to be "more racist than humorous." Only 17% of respondents viewed the comments as intended jokes rather than serious remarks. Additionally, 71% of Puerto Ricans felt that, even if intended as a joke, these comments suggest that there is racism within Trump's campaign.

When asked who they would vote for if the presidential election were held today, 64% of Latino respondents in Pennsylvania indicated support for Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, compared to 30% for Donald Trump. The strong preference for Harris reflects growing concerns among Latino voters about respect for their communities, especially following Trump's recent rally, where invited speakers made remarks disparaging Puerto Ricans and Latino immigrants. The survey contains a +/-5% margin of error.

The rally remarks appear to have eroded trust among Latino voters regarding Trump's commitment to the Latino community. According to the survey, over half of respondents (53%) feel that Trump is “very disrespectful” toward Latinos, with an additional 9% describing him as “somewhat disrespectful.” Only a small minority, 19%, view Trump as “very respectful.” These perceptions may be contributing to Latino voters' clear preference for Harris, with 30% supporting Trump.

Furthermore, over half of the Latino voters surveyed indicated that the rally remarks influenced their likelihood of supporting Trump, making them more likely to vote for Harris, reflecting how pivotal respect and inclusivity are in shaping voter decisions among Pennsylvania Latinos.

This is good news. I don't like the title. It doesn't state that trump only has 30% of the votes.

Yes it was about Biden’s comments. I have no idea what the coverage of that was compared to the comedian but either way doing a stunt WITH THE CANDIDATE in any way associated with “garbage” is not a good idea.

He hasn’t done anything to expand the campaign in months, at least. The truck was for internal consumption (witness the garbage bags at rallies) whether they know it or not.

First, he just had to have that rally in Madison Square Garden, because he thinks he can win NY!? Or is it NJ? Does he think PA cares? Then they hired that comedian, and screened his routine, and said, “Yeah, OK…”

Afterwards, no real attempt at “damage control.”

When Joe Biden made a remark, using the garbage reference, somebody had the brilliant idea of dressing him up, and putting him a garbage truck. OK, what exactly was the intended message there? because it doesn’t seem to have paid off…

Pacheco saw Trump’s decision to pose in a garbage truck at a campaign stop in Wisconsin the following day as an additional insult. “If he didn’t have nothing to do with it, what’s he doing in the garbage truck?” Pacheco asked.

Harris is +24

Keep in mind the Latino vote is growing as far as those registering to vote and the percentage that do vote. Percentage voting has increase 15%, 15%, 30% over the last three presidential election cycles.

I would not be surprised is she ends up with 70% of the Latino vote given the garbage incident.
