Trump Tells New Mexico Crowd He's There For 'Simple Reason' -- To Pander To Latinos

Former President Donald Trump admitted to a crowd of supporters that he was only there in Albuquerque, New Mexico, because he thought it would improve his image among Hispanic and Latino voters.

Trump’s popularity among voters in the demographic took a steep dive on Sunday, when a comedian called Puerto Rico an “island of garbage” at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. The former president has refused to offer a personal apology.

“New Mexico, look, don’t make me waste a whole damn half a day here, OK?” Trump told the crowd on Thursday.

“First of all, Hispanics love Trump, they do. True. I like them. They’re smart. They’re a lot smarter than the person running for president on the Democrat side,” he said, once again taking a shot at Vice President Kamala Harris’ abilities. “So I’m here for one simple reason,” Trump said. “I like you very much, and it’s good for my credentials with the Hispanic or Latino community.”

It goes so far beyond angering Puerto Rican Americans. I firmly believe we will see significant erosion of support for MAGA among Hispanic and Latino Americans with roots in Mexico, Central America, South America, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and beyond.

... i.e. the person he pretends to be -- the image he tries to project -- and using 3rd person is a "tell" that even he knows that's not really him.

I know it's said that people who do that do it as a way of getting their name out for promotion of their business or their campaign. It still comes across as narcissistic and off putting to me.

It's not purple like western neighbor state Arizona, or red like eastern neighor state Texas.

Sorry, orange convict, you did waste a trip. That rally in NYC where Puerto Ricans were called garbage has cratered your support with Latinos...ahd it already wasn't a majority.

But this could be a sign that he has emotionally capitulated. Given up, not caring what people think, lacking in self-discipline? Yes I know the latter is a perpetual problem for him, but more so now?

since 1980 I actually posted on FB how this is just not acceptable. And I don’t do politics on fb (much).

And he had a really hard time getting a venue because he owes our fine city 400K from whenever.

Resorted to have his rally goers do Uber because the buses won’t even service his rally.
