Recount triggered for Anchorage Assembly Midtown race with 26-vote gap

Anchorage election officials will conduct a recount of votes in the race for the Midtown District 4 seat on the Anchorage Assembly on Friday morning.

With a 26-vote lead, Janice Park has 46.5% of votes while Dave Donley has 46.2% of votes, according to results released Thursday evening. A 0.24% margin splits the two candidates.

Recounts are triggered when the difference is less than 0.5%, according to municipal code.

About 10,826 votes were counted in this district of 39,935 registered voters, according to returns Thursday.
