Anyone in Japan or have resources there?

I'm at a loss for what to do and thought of my DU family.

My 24 year old daughter is teaching English in Kyoto. She has begun having terrible headaches accompanied by serious pressure behind her eyes, actually causing them to bulge out slightly. After seeing eight different medical people it's been suggested that she go see a psychiatrist.

In my opinion, she needs to see someone who practices holistic medicine, integrative medicine, functional medicine. I know no one on Kyoto or even in Japan and am having a tough time helping her.

Does anyone have any contacts or suggestions for help? At the very least I think she needs to see a migraine specialist.

Thanks so much.
Ellie

has she had her thyroid levels checked? Graves' disease can cause (or be a trigger) for both those symptoms. I'm sure you must be worried sick about her. I wish I could give some advice to help.

She's had her brain and head checked on multiple ways, but I don't know if thyroid has been part of the mix. Good idea. Thanks.

This is so often overlooked.

I have Grave's Disease, and I was lucky. My doctor picked up on it right away.

One of my friends was not so lucky. She had the bulging eyes, too. She started to get headaches and occasional blindness, which her doc termed, "hysterical blindness." He sent her to a psychiatrist.

Her psychiatrist said he would provide her therapy if she liked, but only after she had her thyroid checked. He figured it out on her first visit. Maybe he has seen this before?

I'll make sure she follows up on this. She has seen eight docs, but I don't know if any checked thyroid function.
