Youth-focused event in Mobile promotes election participation

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A candidates forum will be held next week in Mobile as part of a broader effort to encourage young people to vote.

The Greater Mobile Chapter of the Links, Inc., the League of Women Voters, the NAACP, Mobile United, and the National Pan-Hellenic Council are hosting the event on Thursday, April 9, at the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technology Hall at Bishop State Community College.

Over the last month, the organizations have hosted a number of events to encourage young people to participate in the election process.

“Voting is a privilege, an honor, but there is power in the vote,” said Aqualyn Kennedy with The Links. “The vote is your voice.”
