"I have shocking news to report"

writes Ron Filipkowski on bluesky. "An hour in to the NATO summit and Trump has already made a complete ass of himself on the world stage again, trashing our closest allies for decades while praising Putin and Erdogan and ranting one lie after another."

And that's how the corporate media should be reporting trump's performance at this NATO summit. You know they would be if Biden had done an eighth of what trump is doing on the world stage.

Instead we get sanewashing language like "tensions are high" at the NATO summit. No, What's happening is a total %%##$$ show,
with trump saying he would take out a "restraining order" against one of the leaders a couple of days ago and devolving from there. I haven't even heard journalists calling out the lies.

And there seems to be complete silence about his ninety minute phone call with Putin on our nation's 250th birthday.

Yeah, not so much. He isn't destroying this country by the day, he's destroying it by the hour.

The stain he has left on the US will last for many years as people will rightly ask "How was this allowed to happen?"

Sorry, I thought it was so over the top it would be recognized as such.

But it's not that far from the one-side-only presentations expounding on vacuous RWNJ conspiracy theories they come up with regularly on Faux.

But they're just, you know, "asking questions"

THEN, he was going to make them all rich while making the rest of the world bow to us every time they woke up in the morning and every time they went to bed at night.

The fact that this has exposed the already insane level of racism and classism that was running throughout our culture may be the one good thing to come out of all of this. Of course, since we don't seem willing to do more than continue to use the corrupted system that they messed up decades ago to try and 'fix' everything... well...

We will get what we deserve, I guess.

Over... and over... and over again.

He is destroying our historical buildings. He has torn up the White House inside and out. He paved over the rose garden out of pure jealousy and vitriol because Jackie Kennedy was instrumental in its existence. The east wing is gone, the Oval Office looks like a cheap brothel, the reflecting pool is ruined, and on and on.

What he is doing - destroying national treasures and monuments - should be considered criminal, yet he gets away with everything. He doesn't own these buildings, they belong to the American people. I am stunned that no one stands up to him and says NO!

I feel like we are living in the Twilight Zone. Nothing makes sense.

The problem with "touch the stove" is that basic recognition of the sheer scale of Trump's screwups means a shattering of the assumptions needed to keep business as usual going. There's nowhere left to hide if recognition of how unstable the US is and how utterly wretched its president is gets priced in. So a lot of people and institutions are now invested in protecting Trump at all costs.
