Sure, Trump had his vile thing at the WH.... but across the world a lot of people are actually enjoying the World Cup. People from all over the world are traveling around enjoying our food, gas stations, supermarkets, and quirky endearing customs.
And in North Carolina everybody is celebrating the Carolina Hurricanes victory last night in the Stanley Cup.
Trump and his followers are not where it's at. They're in a corner sulking.

(6,946 posts)you've never really played on a team, you've never really rooted for a team and you don't understand why professional athletes get paid so much.

(69,848 posts)There are thousands of Scottish people in Boston (they call themselves the Tartan Army) playing bagpipes, deliriously happy to be in the World Cup.
There's a German guy called Freddy who is having a blast traveling around the southeastern states unironically praising Waffle House, Taco Bell, Buc-ees, grocery stores, and a whole lot of other things he's enjoying about the U.S.
Many of the games are being played in smaller regional cities. The rosters include several cities in Mexico and Canada so it's a true North American collaboration.
We're watching it on Paramount where it is entirely in Spanish.
Social media is full of ordinary people having a good time with the World Cup and I'm here for it.

(35,059 posts)It was won by a bunch of really likeable guys. Lots of great stories there, too! I'll take that over a white trash human cockfighting match ANY DAY! And, I suspect that the ratings will say that I'm not alone there.

Read about it here: How Brandon Bussi's brother, Dylan, inspired his NHL journey - ESPN https://share.google/pQ7gPjn4DtmjyIIRi
Bussi made some spectacular saves in last night's game. I was watching it and couldn't understand why anyone would bother with the pedo orange a$$hole's event. AND, during the first intermission I switched over to the College World Series game and just happened to catch UNC Tar Heels go up by 3 in the 7th inning to win 5-2 over West Virginia! Holy cow! What a great night watching games on TV!

(35,059 posts)This is a guy whose previous team waived him last season to send him back to the minors, where he'd mostly been slogging it out for 4 or 5 years. The Hurricanes claimed him, and he wound up as their back-up this season. He came into the league undrafted, and most guys like that don't have much of an NHL career to speak of. Lots of odds-beating here! I was thrilled to see him get the shut-out!

Didn't see any of it. UFC isn't really a thing in this house. We ended up watching Disclosure Day.
It was . . . a movie that exists.
