Another theory - we may be on the verge of the Democrats' MAGA moment.

"He is an echo of both Trump and Senator Bernie Sanders, who ran insurgent campaigns in 2016 based on economic populism of one kind or another. The more that Washington Democrats condemn him from fancy TV studios, the more that working people in Maine may well rally around him."

He could be our change agent. Certainly change is needed within the Democratic Party and in our politics overall.

The Failure had the advantage of a base that is susceptible to blind loyalty.
All Platner needs to do is stay consistent to party philosophy while attracting the majority of the middle.
He doesn't need to be a Pied Piper.

It's just a (less than) subtle way for David Smith (of the Guardian) to take subtle cheap shots at the Democrats.

"... from fancy TV studios"??? Please. Seriously?

Platner seems like he might beat Collins. Let's just leave it at that.

We don't need TWO cults warring against one another. We need to be careful that the madness isn't contagious.

I'm not surprised that John Fetterman said, "Being a dirtbag is not authentic. You know, being a dirtbag is being a dirtbag".
He seems to understand what being a dirt bag is. What he doesn't understand is what it is to be a Democrat.
I think Plater's got a real good understanding of what it is to be a Democrat.
Maine's got a great candidate here, and, if I was from Maine, I'd surely vote for him.

who has lived his life and now he wants to bring reality to Washington. Lots of people have had difficult times in their lives that they've had to work through just like Plattner has. It's important for dems nationally to keep their eye on the prize. They want to complain about Plattner in light of the thug/worst candidate to ever run for office who now occupies the White House? Dems at the national level need to check their priorities. The reality is women in 22 states are now dying from formerly treatable miscarriages because Susan Collins ignored Brett Kavanaugh's lower court anti choice rulings to put Kavanaugh on the SCOTUS which resulted in the overturning of Roe vs Wade.. Collins needs to be defeated.

We’ll see. Could be a valuable contributor or he could be as useless as Fetterman. But as long as he adds to our numbers, that’s all that matters at this point.

So more candidates with really questionable tattoos, questionable history of treatment of women, and questionable history of politics until recently? Not so sure about that. Not to forget that the republicans play profoundly dirty and the dems seem fearful of doing somewhat the same for the most part.

I'm willing to give this guy at least, the benefit of the doubt for now. Only time will tell if he's the real deal or just Fetterman 2.0.

The job now is to see him be seated in the chair.
Time spent second-guessing our now-real choice is worse than wasted.
The way forward is door-to-door street warfare, organizing and implementing GOTV.
Get him out in the towns where PEOPLE live and let him share the plan face-to-face and help him shape his strategy for meeting the needs of his neighbors. If he’s a “Real” guy with “Real” solutions it should be plainly obvious.
The Democrats and the media created Fetterman’s Monster by milking his challenges and focusing attention away from mission and policy considerations to personality and style. While we’ve been treated to a lot of personality and style, the mission and policy end of the stick is still pretty clean and pristine in terms of our Progressive expectations.
What we need from Platner is for him to pick up that stick and stir up some Shit.
But he’s Our Guy now, and it’s our mission to make him a Senator, so we’re either on the bus… or off the bus.
In November we’ll either be ON the bus, or… UNDER the bus.
