And, not cause even more damage with the removal. You can take off the letters, but there will still be holes in the wall. They'll need to be patched and painted over in order to store the building to its original condition.

I think they might be getting ready to tarp the scaffold to hide damage to the marble. I don’t think they were prepared for the gathered crowd.
