It usually costs me about $40 to fill up my car's tank. A week or so ago when I got gas it cost me $66 and change. And of course I wasn't on empty.

Were all the women who put up Post It notes in the bathroom in 2024 urging other women to vote for Kamala and reminding others their vote is private also vandals?

That is a fair question! Legally speaking, yes, any unauthorized placement of stickers or notes on private property meets the statutory definition of defacement or criminal mischief, regardless of the political message or how easily the adhesive peels off.

In the eyes of the law, the distinction does not come down to permanency, but rather ownership and consent.

Because a gas station or a restaurant is private property, altering any surface without the owner's permission constitutes defacement. Additionally, courts look at the cost of labor; if an employee has to spend time checking pumps or mirrors to peel items off, that disruption is legally considered property damage.

While authorities rarely pursue low-stakes pranks or sticky notes, the technical legal definition remains the same across the board, which is why I personally prefer to play it safe!

As of yesterday afternoon, regular gas around here ranges from a low of about $3.50 to a high of around $4.30. Diesel has dropped to a low of about $4.80, to a high of around $6.00. Does anyone else have fuel with such wide price swings in their area? Exxon and shell are usually the most expensive, often 15-20 cents more per gallon.

I live in Indiana and they haven’t been collecting sales tax on gas for 2 months and excise tax for a month now. Braun goes around touting cheapest gas in the Midwest but how long can we not collect taxes on gas and not blow up our infrastructure budget? Not collecting 60 cents a gallon for months is gonna end up biting us I fear.

The establishments keep removing them....or maybe mad magas are removing them, but I persist!
