(8,027 posts)He's an outed gay so that's their natural relationship. He needs to lash out vocally to stay in their party of hate. Sad really. Just like Bari. And Scott. I believe it all boils down to money. And feckless spinelessness. Just my amateur psychoanalysis.

"What are they doing??? Well, fuck that, I ain't goin'!"
How difficult was that?
(I question the beginning explanation as to why he wanted to do it in the first place. I suspect that they were not hiding anything, they were just not as determined to be rethugs at first.)

(8,977 posts)I think they knew it was a Trump sponsored shit-fest but once the fan fallout (and the possibility of low attendance) became scorch level they covered their asses with we didnt know this was political

(23,816 posts)Said that if this was a legitimate celebration of America Id be fine with it but you and I both know what this is really going to be, a celebration of Trump. And I think all these artists have figured that out now.
Going to be Ted nugent and kid rock again.

(19,921 posts)There's a link on another post (that I can't find now, of course) about how some of them might think it was the previous organizers (The W's and the Obamas) which was set to be a non-partisan thing on the 4th.
But, I could be wrong., who knows anymore.

(4,643 posts)Theyve seen entertainers distance themselves untold number of times by now. Of course they wouldnt be open about what the event really was celebrating. Sure enough, once the entertainers understood the real meaning of the event, they were OUTjust as the admin feared.

(4,835 posts)... it was their agents getting starry-eyed over a fat payday... until the grift became too obvious to ignore. The odds are high that they'd never get paid even if they did show up. Trump never pays anyone, even if it's not coming out of his pocket. But he always schemes a way to put a little sumpthin'-sumpthin' in his pocket.

(650 posts)I always find this argument a bit off, not to say there are not some rabid liberal leaning people however the vast majority of us just want to live and let live.
Truth told, there are/ were some Poison songs I was a fan of back in my 20s and early 30s. However, I figured ANY person who was ever associated with shitbags crappy game show I just put on ignore.
But threats due to being at this cluster fuck I just think is a stretch.
EuterpeThelo
(450 posts)fuck that guy. He thinks he's all that and a bag of chips. Poison was one of the most "meh" hair metal bands generally.

(11 posts)Glad he's out, but the language of this post is strangely identical to what Martina McBride put out.

(197,340 posts)Poison was a third iteration hair band. They were like a parody of a hair band that flanked on a hair band that set out to at least looked like an actual 67-70s hard rock band.

After seeing some of the names still on that list, I wouldn't be surprised at all if more dropped out.

(418 posts)It does irritate me that seemingly all of these "declines" - state this bullshit about not being political, and the performed will state "do not have shows to support either party", FUCK ALL THAT - THE PARTIES ARE NOT THE SAME - THIS IS NOT ABOUT POLITICS - FUCK DONALD T not because he is a republican - FUCK THAT ORANGE DERAGED NARCISSITIC PIECE OF EXCREMENT, because he is the worst thing to ever walk this planet!!!!
Sorry maybe I am over reacting - but this is no longer about politics - this is about right and wrong.

(23,198 posts)The 250th anniversary of America's independence IS an incredibly historic marker, the overthrow of royal rule, the launching of the American experiment with democracy which rippled out to impact the entire globe. There should be grand celebrations to acknowledge the significance of America's Revolutionary heritage. It should be inclusive. We can all honor and have reverence for the true seeds of liberty and justice that were embedded in that moment, though they still have yet to fully germinate.
But Trump of course has to make everything about himself, and inclusion is a curse word to him. Because of one divisive hateful narcissist, a joyous and potentially unifying celebration is being denied to all of us. We could have acknowledged the deeply flawed aspects of America's past while embracing the animating vision that calls on all of us to do better. Reflecting on the road this nation has traveled to draw closer to "our better angels", there is legitimate cause for pride at this moment. But Trump's prolonged 80th birthday party reflects none of that, and therefor must be shunned. I mourn what this summer could have been.
